This role is responsible for accounting and regulatory reporting processes for the Hong Kong Branch.
The successful candidate will contribute to the integrity and accuracy of financial and regulatory reporting while driving process improvements and automation initiatives over the financial information.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Reporting
- Performs general ledger control and reconciliations on daily basis and propose accounting adjustments where required
- Supports month-end closing and the preparation of Head Office reporting package and templates
- Support other duties in the team where necessary
Regulatory Reporting & Compliance
- Prepares HKMA banking returns and surveys and other statutory surveys and ensures accurate and timely submission
- Performs daily monitoring functions of regulatory ratios observed in the Branch
- Monitors communications from HKMA to ensure that regulatory queries are responded timely
- Maintain robust controls and governance frameworks and support internal or external audits
Process Improvement & Automation
- Drive automation and enhancement of regulatory reporting processes using automation and AI tools
- Support system change initiatives, including implementation of new reporting solutions and process optimisation
Experience
- At least 5 years of work experience in financial institutions in the accounting or reporting areas
- Academic background in accounting with CPA qualifications or experience in Big 4 is an advantage
- Track record in driving system changes, or process improvements is a plus
Technical Expertise
- Good knowledge of HKMA regulatory framework and reporting requirements
- Good understanding of IFRS particularly treatments on corporate and investment banking products
- Proficiency in data tools (Power Query, SQL) and AI tools for automation and data analysis is a plus
- Proficiencies in English and Chinese, and can speak in Mandarin
