Position Overview
We are seeking a contract writer to develop a Christ-centered daily devotional for men that can be completed in just a few minutes each day. Each entry should provide practical encouragement, Scripture reflection, and a brief, actionable takeaway that helps men apply God’s Word to their daily lives. The strongest proposals will clearly define the reader, their challenges, and show how the devotional equips them to grow their knowledge and love for God and His Word—even in small daily moments.
Scope of Work
- Research, outline, and write a full-length manuscript (approximately 45,000–75,000 words)
- Collaborate closely with the editorial team through multiple rounds of revision
- Ensure theological alignment with The Daily Grace Co.’s doctrinal commitment
Commitment
Contract, per-project basis.
Compensation
Compensation is determined based on project scope and complexity.
Additional Information
Contractors are engaged based on the needs of specific projects and are not guaranteed ongoing or full-time work. Participation in meetings, workshops, or collaborative sessions may be requested depending on the project timeline.

Proposal Requirements
Important: Proposals that do not include all required components listed below cannot be reviewed.
AI Use: We strongly discourage the use of generative AI in book proposals, and we will not move forward with a book proposal if we detect that generative AI was used to generate or refine sample chapters.
Please submit all materials in a single PDF (not a Word Doc or Google Doc) that includes:
1. Title and Subtitle
2. Controlling Idea (1–2 sentences)
3. One-Paragraph Summary
Provide a concise overview of the book’s purpose, scope, structure, and tone.
4. Target Audience Description (One of the Most Important Sections)Who this book is specifically for
- Their stage or season of life
- The particular struggles, questions, or longings they are experiencing
- Why this book matters to them now
- Tip: Specificity is essential. Broad descriptions such as “Christian women” or “believers” are not sufficient.
5. Comparable Titles (2–3 from the Past 5 Years)
Identify 2–3 comparable books published within the last five years and explain:
- How your book overlaps with each one
- How it is meaningfully distinct in approach, audience, tone, or theological emphasis
6. Author Bio
Explain what uniquely qualifies you to write this book, including:
- Education
- Ministry, counseling, academic, or professional experience
- Subject-matter expertise
- Lived experience relevant to the topic (if appropriate)
- Previous publishing or writing experience
7. Detailed Outline
Provide a working table of contents that includes:
- Section titles and descriptions if applicable
- A title and Scripture for each devotion
8. Front and Back Matter (Optional)
Describe any supplemental materials (e.g., photography, illustrations, reflection questions, discussion guides, recommended resources, liturgies, appendices, etc.).
9. Timeline and Specifications
Include:
- Current manuscript status (idea stage, in progress, complete, etc.)
- Estimated total word count (typically 45,000–75,000 words)
- Anticipated manuscript delivery date
10. Other Book Ideas (Optional)
If you have additional book concepts that may be a fit for The Daily Grace Co., please include a brief description of each idea (1–3 sentences per concept). While these ideas will not be considered part of the current proposal, they may be considered for future publishing opportunities.
11. Sample Material
- The complete book introduction
- Two fully written sample chapters representative of the final manuscript
Skills Required

- Submit a complete proposal PDF including title/subtitle, controlling idea, one-paragraph summary, target audience description, comparable titles, author bio, detailed outline, timeline/specifications, and sample material.
- Provide the complete book introduction and two fully written sample chapters representative of the manuscript.
- Do not use generative AI to generate or refine sample chapters; proposals using AI will not be considered.
- Collaborate closely with the editorial team and participate in multiple rounds of revision.
- Ability to define target reader, their challenges, and provide practical, actionable daily takeaways tied to Scripture.
- Availability for meetings, workshops, or collaborative sessions as requested during project timeline.
