Position Summary: Under direct supervision, the Trauma Therapist is responsible for working with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health. No smoking workplace

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Provides evidence-based curricula in group/individual sessions to address multiple/complex issues related to violence, trauma/PTSD and addiction

· Offers trauma therapy to address trauma/PTSD, violence/abuse, grief, anger management, boundary/control/communication difficulties

· Provides behavioral health services, including brief interventions, individual, group and family therapy, and services to address trauma.

· Implements Seeking Safety and other EBPs.

· Provides clinical care coordination and crisis management services as needed.

· Participates in scheduled trainings and meetings, as necessary.

· Participates in program data collection and submission as needed to meet project goals; and

· Maintains records and completes appropriate documentation; other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

Master’s degree in social work or related field (LMSW, LCSW, LPC, or LPCA or equivalent); Bilingual preferred. 3+ years’ experience providing individual/group therapeutic interventions for diverse individuals, PPW, children, and families in SUD treatment/social services settings; Experience implementing/practicing evidence-based practices, such as Seeking Safety, Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing, and delivery of curriculum-based education services. Willing to become TBRI trained. Knowledge of addiction as a chronic relapsing disorder and principles of effective treatment. Understanding of issues related to trauma, abuse and neglect, violence, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders

Certificates and Licenses:

Master’s degree in social work or related field; Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC or LPCA), Licensed Clinical Master in Social Work (LCSW or LMSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or M.Ed, Psychology Post Doc under clinical supervision. If driving on SMH business, must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and provide proof of current insurance.

Skills Required
