The Role

Radiant is an El-Segundo, CA-based clean energy startup building a nuclear microreactor. A climate-friendly alternative to diesel generators, Radiant's Kaleidos 1MW microreactor will be the world's first portable, zero-emissions power source that works anywhere. We plan to test our development reactor by 2026 and if successful, it will be the first new commercial reactor design to achieve a fueled test in over 50 years. Radiant's goal is to bring one of the world's first factory-constructed microreactors to market. Our microreactor can bring power to remote parts of the world and provide backup power for life-saving applications in hospitals or disaster-relief scenarios. 

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced engineer to support a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing project. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with National Instruments (NI) VeriStand and LabVIEW, and a solid understanding of HIL systems for embedded or real-time testing.This is a short-term contract (1–3 months) with the potential to extend or transition to full-time.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and integrate HIL test systems using NI VeriStand and LabVIEW
  • Configure real-time targets and I/O modules (e.g., NI PXIe)
  • Develop custom LabVIEW VIs or VeriStand custom devices, including a UDP plugin
  • Interface with simulated models (e.g., digital twin) and real hardware
  • Document system architecture, configuration, and test procedures
Requirements:
  • Experience with NI VeriStand and LabVIEW
  • Experience with HIL test systems and real-time simulation
  • Experience working with NI PXI
  • Proficiency in developing and debugging LabVIEW code
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and deliver results under tight timelines
