Compensation Range

$250.00/hr. (depending on level and location)

Position Summary

The Psychiatrist is primarily responsible for clinical supervision and oversight of psychiatric nurse practitioners, conducting psychiatric evaluations, medication consultation and collaboration with community prescribers.

Relationships and Contacts

Within the organization:  Initiates and maintains frequent and close working relationships with staff, clients, families, facility and peers throughout the organization.

Outside the organization:  Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with clinical providers, referral partners and vendors, as needed

Position Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical supervision and oversight to psychiatric nurse practitioners in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Reviews and co-sign documentation as required by law and organizational policy.
  • Conducts psychiatric evaluations for individuals enrolled in the PHP.
  • Provides medication management services for individuals enrolled in PHP as needed. Available at least weekly and by telephone in unusual or urgent situations related to medication.
  • Directs and collaborates with staff on clinical activities and interventions.
  • Provides consultation to community referrals as needed to ensure successful disposition of former patients.
  • Completes medical record and other documentation in a timely and accurate manner as needed to meet clinical, payer and other requirements.
  • Participates in marketing and outreach events on occasion.
  • Perform other activities as requested by the Director and assume other appropriate medical responsibilities as necessary
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Board Eligible or Board-Certified Psychiatrist. All necessary requirements must be met to practice adult psychiatry in California.
  • Experience with mental health PHP/IOP and/or psychiatric hospital experience desired.
  • Superior communication skills working with patients, family members, community stakeholders and staff.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of management experience in a behavioral health setting such as a hospital, outpatient clinic, or related service provider required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience treating the adult emotionally disturbed population which preferable would include young adults and adults in the mental health. Experience with co-occurring disorders and/or substance use disorders a plus. Eating Disorder treatment experience preferred.
  • Performs duties independently, responsibly and with a high level of integrity

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers/general public, clients and/or vendors
  • Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste or smell.
  • Ability to move 25 pounds

  • A valid Driver's license and a generally clean driving record are required. Employees may be required to drive personal or company vehicles.
  • State licensing DHS and DSS prohibit individuals with specific criminal charges, conducted by Livescan fingerprint checks. Exemptions offered.

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against companies of similar size within the behavioral healthcare industry.  In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
