Continuous Improvement Manager – LA
The purpose of this Continuous Improvement Manager role is to help the organization add value to the business by reducing waste and increasing the capacity of others to do the same. The position will be full-time onsite at our Los Angeles aluminum casting and extrusion plant and travel and serve a geographically dispersed organization (Richland Washington and Kalamazoo Michigan) approximately 20% of the time. Base salary $150,000 to $180,000.
What you will work on:
- Serve as an internal consultant for business performance improvement.
- Lead Lean Six Sigma Black Belt projects as sponsored by executive and plant management.
- Mentor Lean Six Sigma Green Belts and Black Belts and operations leaders.
- Facilitate Kaizen events and activities.
- Establish and continuously improve lean and six sigma management systems.
- Develop and deliver Kaiser Production Systems training.
- Advise senior factory management in strategy deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
What you will bring to the role:
- Required Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
- Preferred Master Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
- Preferred IATF 16949
- Must be a USA person (identified as US Citizen, US Permanent Resident (Green Card), any individual who is granted status as a “protected person” under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
- 10 years in manufacturing; aluminum or steel processing, automotive, or aerospace industries preferred.
- Roles in operations management required. Roles in quality and maintenance management are a plus.
- Required skills include internal consulting (influence without authority), ability to work with and through resistance to change at the individual, team, and organizational levels.
Preferred skills:
- Internal consulting: the ability to influence change without direct authority at all levels from executive to hourly workforce. This includes verbal, written and communication skills for each and every audience in the organization. Experience working in an organized labor environment preferred.
- Applied lean six sigma: demonstrated competence in the full depth and breadth of operational excellence and management systems (i.e. house of lean, statistical analysis & process control, process improvement, asset reliability, supply chain, operations).
- Interpersonal skills: the ability to work effectively with the full spectrum of technical and non-technical, commercial, engineering, supply chain, and customer populations. Must be an excellent team member.
- People development: accomplished in the development and delivery of training that achieves effective comprehension, retention, and execution of desired skills.
