The Role

Manages and provides leadership on all large-scale capital improvements supporting the Plant Manager; acts as agent of change to the manufacturing and technical departments in order to facilitate process and product improvements

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the Process Engineering and Continuous Improvement members. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit
  • Act as a resource to the organization for the use of continuous improvement techniques such as the 6-sigma, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing techniques and other improvement methods.
  • Direct the activities of the CI group including their interaction with maintenance function, Operations to drive site wide improvements.
  • Participate in site wide planning including capital management, inventory control, and others as required.
  • Support Corporate and local initiatives (SAP, PIS, etc)
  • Oversee CI development and training; facilitate special CI events activities to drive 6S, plant improvement performance in capitalizing on removing waste and improvement of yield, and production processes.
  • Drives engagement with production personnel to participate suggest improvement opportunities.
  • Work with the accounting function to quantify, measure and report cost savings; work with the accounting function to quantify, measure and report project expenditures in insure project are on budget
  • Act as contact and facilitator of inter-company and intra-company initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate company and department goals, achievements, problems, solutions, practices, changes, and policies. Encourage positive communication. Enforce all company policies, rules, and regulations.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required, (engineering background highly desired)
  • 6+ years related experience in a manufacturing environment with hands on mindset to drive improvement
  • Titanium experience would be very helpful (desired - not required).
  • Melting experience would be very helpful (desired - not required).
  • Ability and desire to manage in a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work hours as needed work with back-shift personnel, solve problems, and respond to emergencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and desire to act as site TOC expert and instructor
  • Ability and desire to act as site Lean expert and instructor.
  • 6 Sigma Black Belt certification desired
  • Statistical knowledge/experience required.
  • ISO9000 experience would be very helpful (desired - not required).
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with all organization levels
  • Personal Computer Skills (MS Office experience desired)
