Senior Technical Writer (Chicago, IL)
This role reports to the Manager, Customer Engagement.
Job Responsibilities:
- Research and understand product features, functionality, and changes to determine scope of edits for assigned areas of documentation
- Write clear, concise documentation based on feature-requirement specifications, information from developers and product managers, and use of the product
- Use a version control system to manage documentation
- Revise documentation to incorporate product updates and enhancements requested by customers and internal users
- Produce screenshots, flowcharts, and work with our in-house Design to produce other graphics
- Assist in the development of an integrated documentation process for end-user training including print, online, and asynchronous training materials
- Coordinate with project management, product management, client solution consultants, and product support teams to map out effective product documentation to coincide with product release schedules
- Work with the Product team to write new product training supplements and announcements of new product features.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer or similar occupation that includes writing user guides and online help systems
- Experience with tools such as FrameMaker and Content Stack
- Must have technical aptitude, an ability to quickly learn how to use products and tools, and enthusiasm for technology
- Solid knowledge of the software documentation process from design to commercial release, using industry best practices
- Ability to produce documentation from feature requirements, wireframes, and meetings with the product team.
