Ocient is a hyperscale data solutions company headquartered in Chicago, IL, enabling organizations to analyze trillions to quadrillions of data records in seconds. Over the past five years, Ocient has built a SQL compliant data warehouse for Petabyte and beyond datasets that is 10x to 50x times faster than competitive OLAP databases.

Ocient has been growing rapidly and is currently looking for an experienced Content Strategist to drive the strategy, planning and execution of written marketing content and collateral, including product and solutions-focused materials, presentations, messaging documents, blog posts, website copy, emails, social post copy and more. The ideal candidate for this role will lead and execute world-class brand storytelling balancing both high-level and technical messaging tailored to Ocient’s intended audiences. This person must be creative, solutions-driven, and organized to ensure high quality content is delivered on time in a fast-paced, collaborative, roll-up your sleeves and creative environment.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Ocient’s Senior Content Strategist, digital marketing team and technical subject matter experts to develop written content customized for distribution primarily through digital channels. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects across varying stages, leverage internal SMEs, and demonstrate passion for working with highly technical engineers, product managers and enterprise sales executives to develop content assets tailored for Ocient’s target audience. They will possess strong writing and presentation skills, thrive in a startup culture, be curious and eager to learn, and have the ability to adapt to the changing needs of Ocient’s marketing organization as we grow.


  • Manage all aspects of strategy, planning and execution for written marketing collateral, including SME interviews, content abstracts and outlines, drafting talking points and copy blocks, and producing fully written content assets
  • Contribute to the narrative and editorial strategy for Ocient and map all written assets back to core messaging pillars for the brand, company, product and solutions
  • Manage internal writing timelines, review cycles and SMEs to execute flawlessly and deliver high-quality content on time
  • Anticipate and effectively mitigate problems; consistently communicate to stakeholders about updates on progress, process, relevant delays or issues and budget implications
  • You are a people person, a self-starter! Your role may include bringing various subject matter experts together to make the most of Ocient’s company, product and people stories
  • Flex between various writing styles from social, digital, Web, mobile, email, presentations and longer industry or solutions briefs while staying “on brand” and “on tone”
  • Work collaboratively and proactively with internal teams and external partners to communicate project requirements and ensure efficient development and delivery of content assets
  • Partner closely with, and sometimes brief, design partners and internal teammates
  • Support creative in finding imagery, video, UGC or other assets as needed


  • Must have 5+ years of experience across digital (and content)
  • Experience in writing about technical topics for business, preferably within the database and data warehouse industry
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet their performance metrics both from an internal and client perspective
  • Understanding of writing for different digital formats and asset types
  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to do roll up your sleeves to get the job done on time and within budget
  • Must be a team player and self-starter with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking ability
  • Ability to collaborate with customers, investors, technical subject matter experts, executive leadership and creative partners to seamlessly integrate and draw from diverse skill sets
