Compensation includes a base salary of $70,700.00 - $106,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

RapidScale is searching for a Content/Thought Leadership Writer to join our marketing team and produce high-quality whitepapers, eBooks, case studies, blogs and infographics aimed at technology buyers for medium-size businesses.

The Content Writer will be a seasoned leader who works closely with the Director of Content Marketing and other creative teams to create content that breaks through the noise and engages prospective buyers. Superior writing and strong conceptual communication (big ideas) are a must. This individual will work from a specific content architecture to conceptualize and write thought leadership pieces, edit and maintain brand consistency across all marketing communications. Strong proofreading skills required.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Conceptualize and write 1 to 2 pieces of thought leadership per week in the form of whitepapers, eBooks, blogs, case studies and infographics specifically designed to engage technology buyers.
  • Work with the Content Marketing Director to define the content architecture for each of 8 distinct buyer profiles.
  • Maintain the content calendar and ensure delivery of content pieces on time for campaign execution.
  • Proofread and edit all thought leadership content and marketing communications pieces to ensure there are no factual or grammatical errors.
  • Work with Creative Leader and Designers to ensure copy tone and style are consistent with visual tone and style.
  • Write copy and messaging for new pitches, print, digital and other communications pieces.
  • Present messaging strategies and recommendations to internal boundary partners.
  • Research industry-related topics and identify gaps in our content.
  • Write original copy for ads and social networks.
  • Use SEO practices to optimize articles and increase visibility.
  • Shape language and tone used in sales emails, sales collateral and brochures.
  • Interview clients, industry experts and internal teams to build compelling stories.
  • Must be a conceptual thinker and talented writer who is proficient in capturing and defining a brand's voice.
  • High level of experience in brand identity, direct mail, digital campaigns, social media content, corporate communications, print and OOH.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field
  • 5+ years' experience in content writing, thought leadership, white papers, e books, long form, etc
  • Experience working for a cloud technology company
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong technical copywriting skills and knowledge of editing procedures
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Good people skills and a sense of humor
  • Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress, Uberflip, Highspot)
  • An ability to write creative copy both for large pieces of content (e.g. product descriptions) and smaller texts (e.g. social media posts)
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Basic keyword search knowledge
  • Proficient in Workfront
  • BS Degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or a related field preferred
