Job Description

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • You'll investigate complex content opportunities and turn data, research and market signals into clear strategic insights.
  • You'll develop recommendations that help teams decide where and how to invest across Canva's content ecosystem.
  • You'll partner with Product, Design, Engineering, Data and other relevant specialties to connect content strategy with product and business priorities.
  • You'll identify user and content trends, emerging opportunities and gaps that could influence future strategy.
  • You'll frame ambiguous problems, develop hypotheses and use evidence to move teams toward clear decisions.
  • You'll communicate complex strategic thinking simply, creating narratives and recommendations that enable stakeholders to take action.
  • You'll help improve the frameworks, processes and ways of working that enable Canva to make effective content decisions at scale.

You're probably a match if

  • We're looking for someone who loves turning complexity into clarity. You combine analytical thinking with a strong understanding of content, users and digital products, and you're comfortable moving between detailed investigation and big-picture strategic thinking.
  • You can independently navigate ambiguous problems, gather information from multiple sources and form thoughtful recommendations grounded in evidence. You're a collaborative communicator who can bring different perspectives together, challenge assumptions constructively and build alignment around a direction.
  • You'll bring strong practical expertise in your role and enough understanding of related disciplines to independently tackle complex problems with minimal guidance.
  • Most importantly, you're motivated by the opportunity to help Canva build a content ecosystem that empowers people everywhere to create and communicate visually.

What you'll learn and how you'll develop at Canva

  • You'll deepen your understanding of content strategy at global scale, working across a diverse ecosystem of content, creators and user needs.
  • You'll develop your ability to connect user, product, content and business insights into actionable strategy.
  • You'll strengthen your influence across multidisciplinary teams, working alongside Product, Design, Engineering, Data and other specialties.
  • You'll build experience navigating complex strategic questions in a fast-moving product environment.
  • You'll have opportunities to broaden your impact from individual strategic projects toward shaping longer-term team and content direction.

About the team

We’re part of Content & Discovery, where we work to empower people around the world through content and make it easier for every Canva user to discover what they need to design.

Within Strategy & Insights, we bring together strategic thinking, evidence and a deep understanding of our content ecosystem to help teams make better decisions. We work across disciplines to identify opportunities, clarify priorities and translate insights into strategies that create meaningful impact.

Our work helps connect the dots between our users, Canva’s content ecosystem and our broader goals. By providing clarity on where we should focus and why, we help Canva build content experiences that are useful, relevant and delightful for our global community.

About the Role

As a Content Strategist, you’ll help define and evolve how Canva thinks about content opportunities. You’ll combine structured problem-solving, research and insights to identify opportunities and turn them into clear strategic recommendations.

You’ll work collaboratively across Content & Discovery and with partners across Canva, helping teams navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions. You’ll bring together different sources of information, challenge assumptions and communicate complex ideas in ways that make them easy to understand and act on.

This means independently owning complex pieces of strategic work, using judgement across multiple sources of information and influencing your team and related teams.
