The Role

Company Description

The Manchester Evening News has a rare opportunity to join our content desk in a role that manages the commission, editing and production of agenda-setting non-breaking content. This could be thoughtful political reads, strong opinion, backgrounders, investigations, real life stories or lifestyle and food and drink content. You’ll need to have a deep desire to tell the stories that impact people in our towns and cities and be as comfortable managing a complex crime investigation as you are editing a Greggs taste test!

The Manchester Evening News is the country’s largest regional news website. You will join a vibrant, creative newsroom covering the best city in the world. We pride ourselves on setting the agenda and making a difference; two of our campaigns were mentioned in this year’s King’s speech.

This is a senior management role at the Manchester Evening News and involves publishing and the management and development of content and people.

Please note we will be reviewing applications for this role as applications are submitted. Due to this the role may close without notice, so please don't delay in your application.

So, who are we?

We are Reach Plc, you might not have heard of us but we have probably met without you even realising it. We are home to the UK and Ireland’s most iconic digital platforms, magazines and newspapers. From the Mirror, Daily Express and OK!, to our regional titles such as the Manchester Evening News, the Liverpool Echo and YorkshireLive (plus lots more), our brands and the stories we cover are as varied as our people. We help all kinds of people share experiences through our stories because we believe this is what makes us human.

Oh, and we should probably also mention that with a monthly readership of 47 million people, Reach is the largest commercial publisher in the UK. At Reach, not only will you feel better understood, you will also feel you understand other people better too.

This role is home and hub-based linked to our Manchester Hub. We are therefore open to candidates based in and around Greater Manchester
