At AKQA (part of WPP) we believe in the imaginative application of art and science to create beautiful ideas, products and services. With an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach, we design adaptive digital services and applications that capture the imagination, delivering impressive returns for our clients.
Creatives at AKQA apply artistry and craftsmanship to strategic insight to create and bring to life beautiful ideas that move the world. The most exciting of them are versatile makers, fluent across disciplines and able to carry an idea from spark to finished asset with their own hands. They create content that feels native to the internet, and they do it with craft, instinct, and the speed that modern culture demands.
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Art Director / Content Creator to join the team on one of the most iconic apparel brands in the world. The heart of this role is the ability to personally create excellent social-first content, end to end. You will take ideas from concept through to finished, polished assets, working with the range and self-sufficiency of a nimble maker while being supported by a broader creative team. We care most about the strength of what you can make, and we are open to talent from many backgrounds: agencies, brands, production, freelance content creation, or unconventional paths entirely. If the work is strong, we want to see it, and we will help you grow the advertising and concepting side of the craft over time.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Personally create social-first content end to end, taking ideas from concept through shooting, editing, and final delivery
- Shoot and edit video with confidence and craft, shaping raw material into polished, scroll-stopping social content; this is the heart of the role
- Bring a strong eye for composition, light, and what makes content feel native to the platforms it lives on
- Photography skills are a plus, though not a necessity
- Motion graphics and animation are a plus that can elevate and enliven the work, though not a necessity
- Color correcting and grading are a plus; the goal is footage that feels like elevated social content
- Bring strong creative and brand instincts to the work, ensuring every piece feels on-brand while feeling truly of the internet
- Handle multiple duties on set, enabling us to deliver high-quality work at a nimble pace with a scaled-back crew
- Collaborate with the broader creative team, who will complement and support you on the advertising and concepting side as the role grows
- Show up in person for shoots and regular client sessions, making content on location as needed
QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS
- A portfolio or social presence that clearly demonstrates photo and video content you personally created, ideally social-first work you both shot and edited
- A true maker at heart; your value lies in the breadth and quality of what you can execute yourself
- Shooting and editing are your non-negotiable strengths, complemented by a genuine desire to learn and grow across the wider content-creation stack
- Deeply curious about internet and social culture; you experiment with new formats, tools, and creative behaviors before they become part of a brief
- Strong creative and brand instincts, with either existing advertising sensibility or the appetite and aptitude to grow into it
- Fast, resourceful, and entrepreneurial; you find opportunities and act on them without waiting for a formal process
- Comfortable working across a range of formats and platforms, with an intuitive sense for what performs and resonates online
- Collaborative and open, happy to be complemented by a team that strengthens the advertising side of the work
Location
This is a full-time role based in San Francisco / the Bay Area. Much of our work happens at the client's headquarters, so candidates must be locally available and commutable to SF for shoots and regular client on-sites. Daily embedding at the client is not required, but local presence is essential.
