The Ultra Low Power Audio Team is dedicated to redefining audio experiences for next-generation hearables devices by delivering premium sound quality with exceptional energy efficiency. As a Staff System Applications Engineer, you will work on system integration across embedded consumer platforms, addressing application-level challenges in the low-power consumer audio market.
We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic System Applications Engineer who thrives on innovation and is passionate about delivering exceptional user experiences in emerging audio technologies.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping next-generation audio experiences. Your responsibilities include:
Customer engagements throughout the product development cycle—from concept to launch—debugging issues and resolving problems in our application and/or FPGA labs.
Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams (Marketing, Design, Software, Field Applications) and with external partners to deliver complete system solutions.,
Deep understanding of market use cases to solve application-level challenges in hearable devices such as TWS earbuds and over-the-head headsets
Translate customer needs into solutions, thinking expansively and using a wide lens to capture both immediate and future requirements
Architect balanced system trade-offs between performance, power, complexity, and cost to meet demanding design goals
Drive hardware/software integration to ensure seamless user experiences
Support verification and validation efforts, including pre-silicon (FPGA systems) and post-silicon testing, to guarantee compliance with requirements
Develop evaluation kits, system designs, and customer-facing collateral such as application notes and demos
Create compelling demos for customer visits and tradeshow events
Provide technical communication and support during customer engagements to ensure success
Desired requirements/Qualifications
Education & Experience
5+ years of experience in Product Development roles within the Electronics industry
Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Embedded Firmware/Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
Experience with ARM/DSP/FPGA/BT platforms is a plus
Technical Expertise (knowledge and experience)
System Engineering methodologies and HW/SW product development flows, including requirements capture (e.g., Jama), integration, verification, and validation
Signal processing and multi-core development in the audio domain; experience with DSP cores (e.g., Cadence HiFi) and ARM cores is an advantage
Bluetooth and wireless protocols, including Wi-Fi and UWB
Mixed-signal audio chains, specifically Analog audio architecture (e.g., ADC, PGA, Class D amplifiers) and performance metrics (e.g., SNR, THD)
Battery management and power topologies for efficient low-power hearables (beneficial but not required)
Customer technical support at product and system level, including remote and face-to-face engagements
Testing and debugging techniques, with proficiency in tools such as oscilloscopes, audio analysers (Audio Precision), and wireless protocol analysers
Delivery of system-level collateral for internal and external stakeholders, including hardware, software, and documentation
Experience of engaging and with multi-disciplinary Global distributed teams and influencing stakeholders across hardware, software, and business domains.
Additional Knowledge
PCB development flow (schematic, layout, manufacturing) – beneficial but not required
Programming in C, C++, or Python, and familiarity with software development tools and flows (e.g., Git, JIRA, Jenkins)
Exposure to machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Caffe, PyTorch) – beneficial but not required
Soft Skills & Attributes
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and strong team player
Comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in a multifaceted, cross-functional team with a start-up culture
Enthusiastic about consumer technology, especially in the audio market segment
Ability to travel up to 10% globally (U.S., Europe, Asia)
