Job Description

About the Role

We are hiring a passionate and highly experienced Consumer Insights Lead to join our driven team. In this role, you will be pivotal in shaping our understanding of consumers and translating those insights into strategic action that drives business growth. You will report into the Head of Design and will lead research initiatives while working in cross-functional teams from Product, Data, SEO, and Editorial. If you are excited about connecting consumer intelligence with business strategy to shape consumer outcomes, and building insights that help millions of people make complex decisions confidently - this role is for you.

Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End Research Leadership: Oversee the complete research lifecycle for multiple, sometimes overlapping, consumer insight programs from research design and data collection to analysis, synthesis, and strategic recommendations. You will produce detailed reports, consumer insights, and journey maps for smooth handoffs to product and design teams and coordinate post-launch measurement to gather feedback and continuously refine our understanding.

  • Strategic Consumer Advocacy: Partner with product, marketing, and growth teams to shape roadmaps, ensuring business solutions align with deep consumer understanding and market realities.

  • Design-ready feedback: Deliver findings as testable directives (example copy, impact assessments, priority, and rationale), as well as closing the loop on tests that ship by analyzing results and documenting clear patterns.

  • Consumer Journey Optimization: Surface what people need, fear, or aspire to when making financial decisions and ensure that understanding informs everything from content strategy to product development.

  • Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis: Track evolving financial behaviors, cultural shifts, and competitor moves to position Forbes Advisor for growth. Deliver foresight reports and scenario planning that highlight where the market is moving next.

  • Data-Driven Storytelling: Analyze both qualitative and quantitative data (e.g., survey results, user interviews, behavioral metrics) to validate hypotheses and guide strategic decisions. Present insights as compelling narratives that drive action.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build scalable systems for consumer feedback loops, ensuring insights are embedded at every stage of the product lifecycle. Facilitate workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions with design, product, and editorial teams.

  • Team Development: Set up processes to onboard junior researchers, facilitate insight reviews, and foster a culture of consumer-centricity and continuous learning across the organization.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in UX Research, Consumer Insights, or Service Design. We welcome candidates who have led journey mapping projects that translated consumer motivations into concrete design or product changes. Experience should include both quantitative methods (survey design, segmentation, choice modeling) and qualitative methods (focus groups, in-depth interviews, ethnographic research)

  • Consumer marketplace or complex decision-making experience (e-commerce, travel, financial services, health etc)

  • Your work is grounded in rigorous methodology, well-tested approaches, and fundamentally driven by data. Experience with both qualitative methods (interviews, focus groups, ethnography) and quantitative analysis (surveys, behavioral analytics, statistical analysis).

  • Familiarity with research tools and platforms. Experience with Google Analytics, Tableau, survey platforms, and statistical analysis software is a plus.

  • Ability to connect consumer insights with business strategy, translating research findings into actionable recommendations and wireframes/mockups that influence product roadmaps and go-to-market strategies.

  • Proven track record of delivering research findings as testable directives with clear priorities and rationale with at least 3-4 research projects with clear methodology, findings, and business impact

  • Experienced in crafting compelling presentations and reports that bring consumer voices to life for diverse stakeholders across the organization.

  • Ability to synthesize consumer research with competitive analysis and market trends to provide comprehensive strategic guidance.

  • Comfortable iterating quickly in a fast-paced environment; you distill clarity and direction from ambiguous consumer problems and emerging market signals.

  • Ability to guide cross-functional teams through research-informed experimentation and testing processes to support research workstreams.

  • Timezone: UK timezone, with flexibility to overlap for 2-3 hours with key stakeholders on CST

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with advanced analytics platforms and consumer behavior tracking

  • Background in behavioral psychology

  • Experience with competitive intelligence and market analysis

  • AI-native workflows to develop tools/templates that can scale processes
