The Consumer Compliance Officer serves as the day-to-day administrator of the Bank's Consumer Compliance Management System (CMS) and supports the Chief Compliance Officer in maintaining effective oversight of consumer compliance governance, regulatory compliance, examination readiness, monitoring, testing, issue management, and regulatory change management activities.
The role is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the Bank's consumer compliance framework, ensuring compliance with applicable consumer protection laws, regulations, and supervisory expectations. The position provides regulatory analysis, compliance advisory support, monitoring, reporting, and governance oversight across the Bank's consumer-facing products, services, channels, and activities.
Key Responsibilities
-Consumer Compliance Oversight
- Serve as the day-to-day administrator of the Bank's Consumer Compliance Management System (CMS) and support the CCO in maintaining effective consumer compliance oversight.
- Maintain and enhance the components of the CMS, including policies and procedures, training, monitoring and testing, complaint management, regulatory change management, and corrective action processes.
- Provide regulatory guidance and support across applicable consumer protection laws and regulations, including fair lending, mortgage lending, credit cards, deposits, consumer lending, privacy, UDAAP, complaint management, and electronic banking requirements.
- Review consumer products, services, customer communications, and new or modified product initiatives to assess regulatory compliance risks and provide compliance guidance.
- Develop and execute risk-based compliance monitoring and testing activities to evaluate adherence to applicable regulatory requirements and internal controls.
- Support regulatory change management processes, including regulatory research, impact assessments, implementation planning, and policy updates.
- Coordinate responses to consumer compliance examinations, audits, supervisory inquiries, and independent reviews.
- Maintain oversight of consumer complaint management processes, including trend analysis, root-cause identification, corrective action tracking, and management reporting.
- Support business units by translating regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations into practical compliance controls and business guidance.
- Assist in developing and delivering consumer compliance training and awareness initiatives.
-Governance, Risk & Reporting
- Perform consumer compliance risk assessments and support the maintenance of policies, procedures, monitoring programs, and control frameworks.
- Prepare management reports, dashboards, key risk indicators, compliance metrics, training materials, and governance updates for Senior Management, management committees, and the Board.
- Escalate significant regulatory concerns, compliance risks, control deficiencies, and remediation matters to the CCO.
- Maintain examination-ready documentation, evidence repositories, issue tracking logs, and remediation plans.
- Track compliance monitoring, testing, audit, examination, and complaint management findings through remediation and closure.
- Partner with Internal Audit, Risk Management, Legal, Operations, Technology, and business units to strengthen compliance governance and promote a strong culture of compliance.
- Analyze regulatory developments, enforcement actions, supervisory trends, and emerging risks, and assess their impact on the Bank's products, services, operations, and strategic initiatives.
- Support the preparation of regulatory responses, corrective action plans, and examination remediation efforts, as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Law, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in consumer compliance, regulatory compliance, compliance risk management, compliance monitoring and testing, or regulatory examination support within a regulated financial institution.
- Strong knowledge of consumer protection laws and regulations applicable to banking products and services.
- Experience managing or supporting consumer compliance examinations, audits, compliance monitoring and testing programs, risk assessments, regulatory change management initiatives, complaint management programs, and issue remediation activities.
- Working knowledge of Fair Lending, UDAAP, Privacy, Complaint Management, and consumer banking regulations.
- Strong understanding of applicable consumer protection regulations, including Regulations B, C, DD, E, F, P, V, Z, Fair Housing Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Flood Insurance requirements, and related supervisory expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical policies, procedures, controls, monitoring programs, and business guidance.
- Experience in preparing regulatory responses, management reporting, and Board or committee materials.
- Experience in a community bank, regional bank, de novo bank, or similar financial institution preferred.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or other relevant compliance certifications
- Other relevant compliance, audit, risk, or consumer compliance certifications
Compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Bank Secrecy Act related principles, laws, rules and regulations, as well as Itau’s related policies and procedures.
