The Role

This is a hybrid role based in our Los Angeles office and will require you to be in the office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What’s so interesting about this role?

As a Consumer Communications Manager at Grindr, you will play a critical role in getting the word out about our leading LGBTQ+ social networking platform. You will be responsible for managing communications agencies, developing strong cross-functional relationships within our marketing organization, and delivering earned media results. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative marketing campaigns, leverage emerging pop culture and media trends, and make a meaningful impact in the LGBTQ+ community.

What's the job?

  • Be the key point person for our consumer PR efforts for all things Grindr, including elevating our marketing and product efforts.

  • Drive an always-on earned media strategy that will drive the Grindr business forward and keep our product top-of-mind for our consumers.

  • Track editorial calendars to ensure Grindr's inclusion in relevant articles for target publications.

  • Work across integrated marketing, content marketing, social media and corporate communications to develop compelling narratives and messaging.

  • Manage our consumer comms agency partner, working as their day-to-day collaborator and partner.

  • Work closely with product marketing to help land product news that cuts through the noise.

  • Collaborate with various internal stakeholders to prioritize communications campaigns, establish project timelines, and ensure successful campaign delivery.

  • Identify trends relevant to the company and our industry in order to position Grindr as an industry leader.

  • Analyze data, gather research and understand user feedback in order to help strengthen the company’s brand perception in the marketplace.

  • Monitor key metrics and report on media results in a timely manner. 

  • Provide strong internal and external communications on behalf of your work and our PR efforts.

  • Support the Corporate Communications team on Grindr4Equality efforts. 

  • Write and distribute company news in owned channels and promote the business via print, broadcast, radio and podcasts, and build relationships with reporters in these areas.

  • Assist in managing the awards process in the U.S.

  • Build and maintain a media list of key contacts.

  • Manage contracts and renewals for vendors.

  • Lead on all consumer comms brief creation.

  • Help manage projects and work on ad hoc projects, as needed.

What we'll love about you

  • 5-10 years of experience in public relations or communications.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant or related field.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight deadlines.

  • Proficiency in media monitoring tools such as Meltwater, MuckRack, or Brandwatch.

  • A self-starter who can work independently in a fast-paced environment, driven by attention to detail and with great follow-up skills.

  • A team player with a willingness to roll up their sleeves on execution as we continue to grow our team.

  • Extensive knowledge of the US media landscape, with an already established relationship with relevant networks/publications.

  • A pop culture obsessed fanatic who’s eager to drive earned media coverage. 

  • A content and social-first mindset for earned media ideation and storytelling.

  • Strong news media acumen.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies to drive innovation.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to gather and interpret data to inform decisions.
