The successful candidate will be an integral member of the BHR team, working across a range of labour rights issues, human rights assessments and security and human rights projects. The ideal candidate will typically have gained several years of relevant experience working in business and human rights consulting and/or in-house business and human rights roles. You will have a good working knowledge of key business and human rights principles and trends and be able to apply them in a range of complex and demanding settings in this fast-paced and dynamic practice.

  • Writing high-impact reports and other client deliverables, which utilise appropriate data visualisations and a compelling writing style.
  • Creating framework scoring sheets and data dashboards.
  • Conducting site visits, audits and rightsholder engagement.
  • Supporting team business development efforts.
  • Advising on BHR matters in challenging locations, for example on mining projects in the DRC or construction projects in the Middle East.

Requirements

Key behaviours required:

  • A problem-solving, self-starting attitude, able to work independently within broad guidelines.
  • An ability to quickly and accurately understand a client’s needs and articulate a compelling solution based on our core principle of ‘practical innovation’.
  • Collaborative approach to teamwork and inter-team co-operation.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and project challenges.
  • Exceptional communication, research and presentation skills.
  • A balance of commercial entrepreneurialism with high standards of propriety and ethics.

Ideal background:

  • A good academic record in a relevant discipline or comparable practical skills demonstrated in a work environment.
  • A good level of relevant practical work experience in business and human rights, preferably with site-level experience.
  • A sound knowledge of core BHR laws, principles and frameworks (CSDDD, FLR, UNGPs, OECD Guidelines, IFC PS) and current trends.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for project delivery.

This is a great opportunity to join a high performing team in an internationally respected company, which has recently been ranked in Band 1 by Chambers and Partners.

Over 50 years we have developed a reputation as practical problem solvers in complex regions, providing essential, innovative and timely support to organisations all over the world.
