Description

About Protora

Protora is formerly C Speed. We build radar and surveillance systems that give military and government customers eyes on their airspace, borders, and critical sites. Our name draws from the Praetorian Guard, elite soldiers whose job was to watch and protect. That history shapes our mission today: we take first watch, so the people we protect don't have to. We are a growing company with a new brand and a clear direction.

The Role

Protora is hiring a Configuration Management Document Manager to develop, implement, and maintain a structured document-control and configuration-management system, establishing the processes, procedures, and controls needed to manage technical documentation and product configuration records throughout the product lifecycle.

This role works closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Programs to ensure drawings, specifications, bills of material, procedures, and technical data are properly reviewed, approved, released, revised, and maintained.

The ideal candidate combines strong configuration-management and document-control experience with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to coordinate complex technical information across multiple teams.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement Protora's document-control and configuration-management system, including procedures, workflows, approval processes, revision controls, and documentation standards.
  • Manage configuration-controlled engineering and technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, BOMs, procedures, and related records.
  • Maintain accurate revision history, document status, approvals, release records, and product configuration baselines.
  • Coordinate the review, approval, release, revision, and distribution of controlled documentation.
  • Support engineering change processes, including change requests, change orders, implementation tracking, and traceability.
  • Ensure current, approved documentation is available to appropriate Engineering and Production personnel.
  • Establish and maintain document-control and configuration-management procedures, standards, and records to ensure consistent application across the organization.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Programs to resolve documentation and configuration discrepancies.
  • Support audits and customer reviews by providing accurate configuration records and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve document-control workflows, accuracy, traceability, and efficiency.
  • Travel: 20–40% initially, with travel requirements expected to decrease as the new facility becomes operational.

Requirements

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent relevant experience in engineering support, configuration management, document control, or quality.
  • 5+ years of configuration management, engineering document control, or related experience in a technical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing or implementing document-control and configuration-management systems, including the development of procedures, workflows, and change-control processes.
  • Experience working with engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, revision controls, and engineering change processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple documents, revisions, approvals, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Experience with PLM, ERP, document-management, or configuration-management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, radar, electronics, and/or complex electromechanical environments.
  • Experience supporting product configuration baselines, engineering change control, and technical data management.
  • Familiarity with configuration-management standards and requirements applicable to aerospace or defense programs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation Range: $90,000-$100,000 (commensurate with experience).
  • Benefits: Health, Dental & Vision Insurance | Paid Time Off (PTO) | Retirement Plan Package.

Why Join Protora

  •  Be part of the mission. Help ensure the technical information behind Protora’s systems is accurate, controlled, and ready when our teams and customers need it.
  • Own your function. Help strengthen Protora’s configuration-management and document-control practices as the company grows.
  • Work across the business. Partner directly with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Programs throughout the product lifecycle.
