Job Description
IDS is seeking a Computer Systems Engineer I (Computer Network Architect) to support the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of complex cyber range and test bed environments. The selected candidate will be responsible for architecting and configuring physical, virtual, and cloud-based network infrastructures that support training, testing, and operational requirements. This role requires experience with network engineering, systems administration, virtualization technologies, automation tools, and infrastructure orchestration. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of enterprise Windows and Linux environments, cyber infrastructure, and emerging technologies including ICS/SCADA, IoT, RF, and integrated sensor systems.
Key Duties
• Design, configure, and maintain cyber range and computer test bed environments.
• Architect and support physical, virtual, and cloud-based network infrastructures.
• Configure and manage routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, Active Directory, VPNs, VLANs, and SAN technologies.
• Deploy and maintain bare metal and virtualized systems in support of mission requirements.
• Develop and implement automation, provisioning, imaging, orchestration, and configuration management solutions.
• Utilize tools such as Ansible, Chef, FOG, Python, and Bash to streamline system administration and deployment activities.
• Engineer and administer VMware, KVM, Xen, and other virtualization platforms.
• Administer and maintain Windows enterprise and Linux server operating systems.
• Monitor infrastructure performance and support network and systems troubleshooting activities.
• Identify and address network vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and mitigation strategies.
• Support integration and operation of technologies including camera systems, ICS/SCADA environments, IoT devices, and RF systems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to support cyber training, testing, and operational objectives.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Must meet DoDM 8140.03 IAT II requirements.
• Active Secret security clearance required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the configuration and operation of cyber range or computer test bed environments.
• Demonstrated experience designing and configuring computer networks, including routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, Active Directory, VPNs, VLANs, and SANs utilizing bare metal and virtualized systems.
• Demonstrated experience with automation, provisioning, imaging, orchestration, and configuration management using Ansible, Chef, FOG, Python, and Bash scripting.
• Cloud, physical, and virtual network architecture, engineering, and infrastructure monitoring experience.
• Experience with hypervisors such as VMware, KVM, and Xen.
• Demonstrated experience with Windows enterprise and Linux server/operating systems engineering and administration.
• Knowledge of network vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and mitigation techniques.
• Demonstrated experience working with technologies including camera systems, ICS/SCADA, IoT, and RF devices.
