Computer Services Coordinator

The primary responsibility is the maintenance of the company’s computer technology assets, which support the various departments or projects within Gilmour Academy. The IT coordinator sets up systems for updating software applications and operating systems in use, as well as frequent redundant backups of necessary development or procedural work.

The IT coordinator handles aspects of training on a company’s software and computer systems. This can include group presentations, as well as one-on-one training. Additionally, the coordinator often advises management on whether an organization's software choices are sound, and they must be aware of new developments in the marketplace that can assist the technological security and efficiency of a company.

This position normally works during regular business hours. However, the requirements for various installations, training, and the potential need for around-the-clock “up time” for a company’s computer assets may put the IT coordinator “on call” at all hours of the day or night in the case of emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision, maintain, and support PCs, applications, and peripherals

  • Provide network and email privileges and access for users as needed

  • Maintain inventory and asset management of all hardware, software, and documentation.

  • Research new hardware and software offerings

  • Record department Purchases

  • Plan for responsible disposal of used equipment

  • Advise on hardware/software contract or warranty

  • Manage online technology reservations systems and handle special equipment requests

  • Provide distance learning support and equipment. Create and maintain optimized images

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or similar role - experience in K-12 or higher education is a plus

  • Proficiency in PC setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance

  • Familiarity with network administration, user access management, and email systems

  • Knowledge of software deployment, system imaging, and backup solutions

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train non-technical staff

  • Ability to research and evaluate technology products and make sound recommendations to the Network Administrator and school administrators (when appropriate)

  • Experience supporting classroom AV or educational technology platforms is a plus
