Computational Linguist

You will collaborate closely with a core team of product managers, engineers, and linguists within our fast-growing organization, working towards creating the most effective, engaging, and robust language learning software in the world.

Your role will involve pushing the boundaries of NLP and AI/Deep Learning by leveraging your expertise to solve complex problems and drive groundbreaking improvements to our language learning products. You will be responsible for assisting in the development of state-of-the-art technologies that will shape the way users learn languages across the globe.

As the Computational Linguist for Mango Languages, you will be responsible for:

• Research and procure Natural Language Processing (NLP) libraries and APIs and integrate them with our internal tools and processes
• Prompt engineer and fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs) to serve our specific purposes
• Using AI/NLP to create content faster while maintaining the integrity and pedagogical standards of the product
• Multilingual textual analysis including morphological analysis, syntactic analysis and lemmatization
• Synthesizing AI and NLP technologies to create innovative new language learning and teaching experiences
• Being a mentor/educator to help others on technical and theoretical aspects and best practices to bring deep learning and NLP to the organization
• Other duties and new projects as assigned, including a willingness to participate in cross-functional projects.

Minimum/Required Qualifications

• Degree in Computational Linguistics, or a combination of a related field and equivalent practical experience
• 5+ Years Experience in software engineering and coding with Python
• Advanced Experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) 
• An ability to use, adapt, and extend approaches described in the scientific literature relevant to NLP
• Applicable knowledge of multilingual textual analysis, morphological analysis, syntactic analysis, lemmatization, and automatic speech recognition
• Experience collaborating with fellow engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders to apply NLP approaches in a way that makes a positive impact to our users
• Familiarity with experimental design, research methodologies, qualitative and quantitative analysis
• Experience interacting with cloud-based LLMs through the API (especially OpenAI models)
• Demonstrated analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills in a technical context
• Strong problem solving, conceptual thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment

Bonus:

• Familiarity with machine learning libraries e.g. Tensorflow/Keras/PyTorch, deploying models from Hugging Face
• Experience developing content and curriculum for language learning software
• Proficiency in Hebrew or Korean
