Job Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting the Manager, Corporate Compliance; Director, Legal Operations; and the General Counsel in managing corporate compliance activities and operations to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws which govern the business activities of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi and its subsidiaries (Company). These responsibilities include, without limitation, support in developing and maintaining corporate compliance policies, procedures and documentation. The Compliance Coordinator will also proactively monitor compliance activities which govern the Company’s business, provide and document training, and support the Manager, Corporate Compliance in oversight activities. The Compliance Coordinator, under the direction of the Manager, Corporate Compliance is responsible for ongoing administration of the corporate HIPAA Privacy Program and the Privacy Office, managing the Blueway Code of Conduct and Compliance Hotline and Other Compliance Reporting, administering the Ethidex Compliance Office Software, conducting OFAC/Exclusion list monitoring, conducting compliance reviews to ensure Group and Member compliance with Company requirements and supporting vendor contracting compliance.
Job-Specific Requirements:
- Bachelor’s (or higher) degree.
- Minimum of 3 years work experience, health care related or compliance experience preferred, with prior experience in a similar compliance role preferred and a strong preference for experience with HIPAA Privacy Rules.
- Excellent research, organizational and oral/written communication skills required, with the ability to present information in a clear, concise manner to a variety of personnel levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to handle information and projects of a confidential nature.
- Ability to handle people and complex situations in a professional manner.
- Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously without compromising quality.
