The Compliance Business Support Specialist serves as the lead of the Compliance Department. This role is responsible for reviewing and resolving escalated compliance matters, supporting compliance reporting and monitoring, identifying potential compliance risks, and helping ensure business practices and customer interactions are handled accurately and consistently.
The Compliance Lead serves as an escalation point for Compliance Representatives and is expected to exercise sound independent judgment when evaluating situations that may present regulatory, legal, or policy concerns. This individual should have a strong compliance mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and the willingness to investigate an issue or seek additional guidance when the correct answer is not immediately clear.

Responsibilities:
Compliance Review & Escalations
- Serve as the primary escalation point for Compliance Representatives.
- Research compliance questions and provide findings or recommendations to leadership.
- Escalate high-risk, unusual, or unclear compliance matters as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance decisions and actions are accurately documented.
Training & Procedures
- Train and support new and existing Compliance Representatives.
- Develop and maintain compliance SOPs, procedures, training materials, and internal reference documentation.
- Provide ongoing coaching and guidance to Compliance Representatives.
Compliance Department Support
- Assist the Compliance Department Head with compliance reviews, research, projects, and other department needs.
- Assist with recurring and ad hoc compliance reporting.
- Help ensure compliance policies and procedures are followed consistently.
- Take ownership of assigned compliance matters through resolution.
Regulatory & Policy Knowledge:
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of applicable consumer protection and privacy requirements, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and other applicable state and federal requirements.
- Stay informed of regulatory and policy changes that may affect company operations, customer interactions, or internal processes.
- Help identify gaps between regulatory requirements, company policies, and actual business practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk, fraud, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience handling customer, operational, or compliance-related escalations.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in consumer privacy, consumer reporting, or data broker fields.
- Working knowledge of the CCPA/CPRA, FCRA, and related consumer protection or privacy requirements.
- Experience supporting compliance monitoring, audits, investigations, or regulatory reporting.
- Experience developing procedures, controls, training materials, or compliance documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor or provide guidance to other employees.
- IAPP CIPP/US Certification
