At Eni, we are looking for a Completion & Work-Over Engineer within the Zubair Field Operating Division in Basra, Iraq. You will be responsible for developing workover and completion designs and layouts, optimising investments, and applying the highest standards of engineering integrity, safety and environmental protection. You will draft workover plans and support their execution by providing engineering advice, while updating well designs and execution plans as required.

Your employment contract will be managed by Eni International Resources Ltd (EIRL).

Main responsibilities:

  • Plan and engineer workover and completion operations to achieve technical objectives in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner. 
  • Prepare workover and completion programmes, including all required information as specified in company procedures. 
  • Prepare estimated cost breakdowns for workover and completion programmes. 
  • Follow up on workover and completion operations and related expenditures. 
  • Recommend changes to aspects of the workover and completion programme where necessary. 
  • Track and benchmark workover and completion performance and costs. 
  • Prepare post-workover reports and analyse real-time workover and completion data. 
  • Carry out special studies and reports on any aspect of workover and completion operations as required. 
  • Investigate the potential for implementing intelligent completion technologies in company fields. 
  • Assist rig site operations for specific jobs. 
  • Support the preparation and evaluation of tenders related to workover rigs and associated operations, including perforations, acid stimulation, fracturing, dual completion, cement bonding logs and remedial cement squeezing. 
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to HSE by adhering to the policies and recommendations outlined in Eni and ZFOD rules and standards.

Skills and experience required:

  • Degree in engineering or science. 
  • Relevant experience in oil and gas completion and workover operations. 
  • Specialised training in completion and workover technology, as well as HSE. 
  • Certifications in completion and workover may be required. 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. 
  • Expertise in completion activities, including workover operations, well testing (oil and gas), gravel pack, gas lift, submersible pumps, dual completion, perforating techniques, advanced completion and workover, rigless operations and intelligent completions. 
  • Experience in high-profile drilling, such as extended reach drilling, HP/HT drilling, wellbore stability, and sand production prediction and control. 
  • Advanced knowledge of high-profile completion and workover techniques, including well stimulation (acid and frac), stimulation/completion/gravel pack/frac jobs, and fluids design and engineering. 
  • Proficiency in fluids design and engineering for jobs involving HP/HT completion, simultaneous production, wellbore stability and sand production prediction and control. 
  • Strong data management skills and computer literacy.
