What is needed to be our Competitive Aquatics Director:
- 21+ years of age
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 1+ years of competitive swimming coach experience preferred
- 1+ years of swim lesson experience preferred
- 1+ years of experience in pool management/administration preferred
- Previous YMCA experience preferred
- Must be be available on weekday afternoons/evenings and attend weekend swim meets
- Listen First training within the first six months of employment
- Obtain USA swimming coaching pass and YMCA coaching pass within the first three months of employment
- Previous experience with voluntary/non-profit organizations preferred
- Knowledge of research methods and a high degree of computer efficiency in Microsoft office products
The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Competitive Aquatics Director:
- Serves as the Head Coach for the competitive swim team for our Nazareth Branch and overseeing our Bethlehem branch program, supporting competitive aquatics in the Lehigh Valley Region.
- Work closely with and oversee coaches both in water and on land
- In collaboration with the Director of Aquatics and Membership, promotes fair pool usage and a positive, nurturing atmosphere for all types of pool users (swim team, open swim, swim lessons, water aerobics, etc.)
- Work positively, maturely and effectively with members (especially families), colleagues, staff and supervisors
- Ensure the aquatic environments are safe; decks are clean and free of clutter, water clarity is clear and chemically safe
- Ensures pool rules are enforced professionally and all locker rooms are monitored by aquatics staff
- Assist with the development and implementation of membership recruitment, retention, initiatives and orientation strategies regarding the swim team
- Respond effectively and in accordance with YMCA guidelines to problems that occur. Anticipate and minimize potential problems with participants or the aquatic environment. Execute and enforce all safety regulations, policies and procedures
- Respond quickly and effectively to accidents and incidents. Accurately prepare and submit Accident and Incident Reports in a timely manner
- Proactively communicate with the Sr. Director of Competitive Aquatics,VP of Operations, Association Director of Competitive Swim, staff and members Respond in a timely manner to all member inquiries, comments and/or complaints
- Support Special Events and other interdepartmental needs as necessary
