About the role...
We're seeking a Community Engagement Program Manager to join Duolingo's Social Impact team! This role is perfect for someone passionate about community engagement, education, and using technology for social good. You'll work closely with our Head of Social Impact to drive measurable social impact. Play a key role in cultivating our relationships with local communities and partners, helping shape Duolingo's social responsibility approach.
You will...
75% Social Impact/Community Engagement
- Manage and develop community engagement initiatives, including the Community Arts Program and the Career Exposure Program for local youth, ensuring these programs align with our broader social impact goals
- Collaborate with teams across the organization, including DEIB, Workplace, People Strategy and Comms, People Operations, and Design Studios, to deliver high-impact community programming and find opportunities for fellow Duos to engage
- Lead all aspects of the logistics and administration of community events, artist collaborations, and educational partnerships, from planning to execution
- Serve as the primary liaison for community organizations, handling communications, sponsorships, and volunteer opportunities
- Monitor and lead the budget for sponsorships and grants, ensuring financial efficiency and accountability
- Handle the employee matching gifts program by providing technical support, coordinating with customer service for application inquiries, and supervising the program’s reporting processes
- Produce detailed reports and maintain comprehensive records of community engagement activities and outcomes for internal and external partners
25% Workplace/Events
- Inform the design and utilization of our gathering spaces to ensure we are representing Pittsburgh
- Work with the WX events team to embed and connect Duos socially to local groups and communities, fostering strong neighborly relationships
- Scale community engagement efforts in New York and Detroit through social programming and employee engagement initiatives
- Collaborate with the WX team to increase community engagement, connecting our facilities and the larger community
You have...
- A proven track record in program management and community engagement
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with diverse groups and building strong partnerships
- Experience in budget management and event planning
- A passion for social impact with a creative and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
- Ability to work full-time from or relocate to Pittsburgh, PA, and occasionally travel to other Duolingo office locations (i.e., NYC, Detroit, Seattle)
