This job is eligible for a hybrid schedule with some on-site work expected.
Summary
The Community Development Analyst will support implementation of the newly launched Inclusive Economies Initiative and other efforts to improve outcomes in New England's smaller cities and rural places, all of which are part of the Working Places Initiative. The goal of the Inclusive Economies Initiative is to connect inclusive growth projects in low-income smaller cities and rural areas with public and private capital to deliver greater impact.
The initiative is composed of three strategies: (1) Educating practitioners on best practices and creating space for collaboration through the Working Places Learning Network; (2) Partnering directly with communities, including connecting them with technical assistance and resources to advance their projects through Inclusive Economies Labs; (3) Helping capital reach underinvested places through our capital innovation work, which is analyzing capital flows and delivery mechanisms and helping create new approaches. The analyst will work across these strategies.
This is a new and growing initiative with opportunities for innovation and additional types of work over time.
The position is situated in the Working Places team of FRBB's Regional and Community Outreach (RCO) department, which serves as the community development arm of the FRBB. We are a diverse and dynamic department working with community-based organizations, policymakers, financial institutions and others to support the economic strength of low- and moderate-income (LMI) people and places in New England. Key job responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing development and implementation all parts of the Inclusive Economies Initiative: working closely with the Inclusive Economies Manager, other Working Places staff as well as external consultants.
  • Assist the Inclusive Economies Manager and Co-leads with overall program management and operations including communications, budgets, and contracts.
  • Explore new ways to deliver impact in small cities and rural communities.
  • Support other Working Places efforts across New England.


Activities on the job include:

  • Implementation: Implementation work will include outreach to, and relationship building with communities, convening cross sector teams to connect and learn, and adding value to their work through the learning network, labs, and capital strategies.
  • Learning and Facilitation: Learning and facilitation work will include assisting in designing learning series/opportunities, peer exchange opportunities, and convenings to deepen inclusive growth strategies in communities.
  • Relationship Management: Help to build and manage relationships to support the initiative as a whole and team progress. This includes coordinating meetings of steering and advisory committees overseeing the inclusive Economies Initiative. Manage CRM and stakeholder lists.


Through this role, the analyst will develop an expertise in community development and project implementation.

Other accountabilities:
This position includes limited travel around New England, and occasionally outside of region.
Supervision:
This position is not required to supervise staff, though it does include working collaboratively with colleagues in Working Places and across the department.

Experience in any of the following areas would be welcome:

  • Experience making change/having impact at a community level, particularly with in smaller cities /rural places and/or with cross-sector collaboratives.
  • Specific issue area experience in one or more of the following topics: economic development, housing, child-care, small business, climate change other public policy areas that make economies more equitable and inclusive.
  • Experience developing and implementing place-based economic development or social impact initiatives including developing strategic plans and designing innovative approaches.
  • Knowledge of social and economic factors that impact community development.
  • Experience or interest in supporting small - mid size cities and rural places.
  • Experience in communication, and or narrative story telling.
  • Data and analysis skills.
  • Knowledge or interest in community investment.
