About the Role:

As the Communications Specialist, you'll help bring CDC's stories, initiatives and updates to life through engaging and impactful communication. This is a varied role that spans both internal and external communications, giving you the opportunity to create content across a range of channels while helping ensure our messaging is clear, consistent and aligned to our brand.

You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business to turn complex information into meaningful content, support communication campaigns and keep employees, customers and external audiences informed about what's happening across CDC. Whether you're writing an intranet article, developing LinkedIn content, supporting a business initiative or helping plan a communications campaign, no two days are quite the same.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Create engaging content across a range of channels, including the intranet, public website, LinkedIn, employee communications and other digital platforms.
  • Manage and maintain communication channels, ensuring content is relevant, up to date and accessible for the intended audience.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to gather information, develop key messages and support communication activities.
  • Write, edit and review content to ensure consistency in brand, tone of voice and quality across all communications.
  • Coordinate content schedules and communication calendars to support business priorities, campaigns and key announcements.
  • Support the delivery of internal and external communication campaigns, initiatives and engagement activities.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of internal and external events, including supporting communications before and after events.
  • Monitor content performance, gather feedback and identify opportunities to improve communication effectiveness and audience engagement.
  • Build strong relationships across the business and act as a trusted communications partner to a wide range of stakeholders.

About you:

This role would best suit someone who is a strong communicator, who enjoys creating engaging content, building relationships and working with a variety of stakeholders across a business. Whether your background is in internal communications, external communications, content creation, marketing or a related field, you're someone who can take information from multiple sources and turn it into clear, audience-focused communications.

You'll thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment, enjoy managing multiple projects at once and be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. Most importantly, you're proactive, adaptable and genuinely enjoy finding creative ways to tell stories and communicate complex information.

  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to create engaging content for different audiences and channels.
  • Ability to simplify complex, technical or business information into clear and compelling communications.
  • Experience managing content across a variety of communication channels, including digital, social, web or intranet platforms.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and work effectively with people at all levels of an organisation.
  • Strong organisational skills, with experience planning, scheduling and coordinating content, campaigns or communication activities.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities can shift and new opportunities regularly arise.
  • A proactive, self-starting approach and the ability to take ownership of work and drive it through to completion.
  • Experience supporting communication campaigns, events, employee engagement initiatives or broader communications activities would be highly regarded.
  • Exposure to social media, digital marketing, paid advertising or content management systems would be beneficial.
  • A qualification and/or demonstrated experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a similar field is desirable.

Essential:

Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
