GEICO's Communications Department is seeking a strong writer and visual communicator with an editorial mindset to join the Internal Communications Team. In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to the enterprise communications channels and content used to engage, inform, and inspire GEICO employees. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, dynamic environment and has proven experience using various channels to communicate with employees, as well as the ability to develop engaging written and visual content in support of a company's business strategy.

You will report to the Manager of Enterprise Channels and Editorial and play both a strategic and tactical role as you help the internal communications department define and shape its enterprise channel and editorial strategy. The ability to write clear and engaging employee content, create eye-catching visual communications and execute strategic communications plans will be essential to your success.

As Enterprise Channels and Editorial Specialist, you will:

  • Help maintain the enterprise editorial calendar in alignment with the key business priorities and company milestones.
  • Write intranet stories to inform GEICO associates about key strategic priorities and initiatives. Partner with members of the corporate internal communications team to identify intranet story ideas and employee engagement opportunities.
  • Help maintain the company intranet homepage to keep it fresh and maximize engagement.
  • Maintain monthly metrics report for all enterprise channels to ensure team has access to data to help assess current efforts and inform future strategies.
  • Provide employee communications support for special enterprise projects.
  • Provide intermediate-level graphic design support for digital signage, infographics, intranet article graphics, and more to create informative, engaging visuals for our communications efforts.
  • Provide live event support for leadership Town Hall meetings, pre/post-meeting communications.
  • Support development, distribution, and publishing of newsletter articles, intranet stories, instant messaging news blurbs, and other messaging across various other content channels.
  • Write articles for the enterprise newsletters, creating content that employees find engaging, informative, and easy-to-read.

Minimum Qualifications

GEICO seeks a creative, collaborative, and experienced corporate communications professional for this role. The successful candidate will have at least five years of relevant corporate communications experience. They will bring to GEICO a proven track record of supporting and driving successful internal communications initiatives.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience (must include some internal communications experience at a large company or organization)
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills - including the ability to take complex information and distill it into simple, consumable content and compelling stories for employees.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic internal communications plans to support company initiatives.
  • Experience communicating with employees using a variety of communications channels.
  • Experience creating informative, engaging designs for emails, intranet stories, digital signage, and more.
  • Proficient in developing content using PoliteMail, SharePoint, and/or similar internal communications platforms.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven time and project management skills with experience managing projects spanning across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance independent work with team collaboration to drive projects forward.
  • Ability to analyze data to inform communications recommendations.
  • Experience using AP style.
