The Communications and Publications Intern will support the implementation of IHRDA's communications, publications, and digital engagement activities. Working under the supervision of the Communications and Publications Manager, the intern will assist in content creation, website and social media updates, publications management, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and organizational visibility initiatives. The position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in communications, publishing, digital media, and knowledge management within a pan-African human rights organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Communications and Digital Engagement
The Intern will:
- Assist in drafting and editing news articles, website content, newsletters, social media posts, and other communication materials.
- Support the updating of content on IHRDA's website and digital platforms.
Assist in monitoring and managing social media accounts and online engagement activities.
- Help maintain stakeholder mailing lists and communications databases.
- Support the preparation and dissemination of email communications and promotional materials.
- Contribute to the development of basic multimedia content, including graphics, photos, and short videos.
- Monitor online engagement metrics and support the preparation of communication reports.
2. Publications Support
The Intern will:
- Assist in editing, proofreading, formatting, and preparing publications for dissemination.
- Support the production of reports, newsletters, manuals, brochures, and other institutional publications.
- Help upload publications and information products to the website and digital repositories.
- Assist in maintaining records of publications and other communication materials.
- Support publication distribution and promotional activities.
3. Documentation and Knowledge Management
The Intern will:
- Assist in organizing and maintaining electronic and physical communication and publication files.
- Support the management of documentation, archives, and institutional knowledge resources.
- Help catalogue and organize publications, reports, and reference materials.
- Assist staff in accessing communication and information resources when required.
4. Public Outreach and Events Support
The Intern will:
- Support the organization of webinars, virtual discussions, public events, and awareness campaigns.
- Assist in preparing communication materials for events and outreach activities.
- Help document meetings, workshops, and events through reports, photographs, and other communication products.
- Support stakeholder engagement and visibility activities.
5. Administrative and General Support
The Intern will:
- Provide administrative support related to communications and publications activities.
- Assist in compiling communication statistics and maintaining communication records.
- Support fundraising and visibility initiatives through content preparation and research.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Communications and Publications Manager.
