Overview

Highlight is seeking a Communications Program Analyst to USAID's Bureau for Planning, Learning and Resource Management (PLR) Communications Team. The PLR Communications Team is located in PLR's Front Office and reports directly to PLR Senior Leadership. You will coordinate with the Communications Director on day-to-day priorities. This is a small team that requires all members to work on all aspects of team priorities to fulfill team objectives. The PLR Communications Team produces high level communications in support of PLR and Agency-wide objectives and campaigns. The team is often called upon to support Agency leadership engagements and communications efforts. The PLR Communications Team supports Agency policy launches, leadership participation at international conferences, communications products that showcase USAID's development priorities and partnerships, as well as PLR's wide range of development tools and resources for USAID staff.

Responsibilities • Identify, design, and produce communications products that support PLR and Agency objectives.• Produce and edit videos and photography • Write and edit briefers, talking points, press releases, web content, social media, fact sheets, presentations, newsletters, and other documents in support of PLR communications strategy and messaging.• Contribute to content on PLR's external and internal web pages • Create content for PLR's social media channels; identifying opportunities to engage and reporting on overall performance• Stay current on social media trends, tools, platforms, and best practices• Provide input and proactive suggestions to enhance Bureau strategic communications.• Coordinate with USAID's Legislative and Public Affairs as needed• Support other duties as requested

Qualifications• U.S. Citizenship.• Current DOD Secret clearance.• Bachelor's degree in a field related to international development, international relations, political science, public administration, legislative affairs, communications, journalism, etc.• Five years of relevant professional experience in communications, preferably in international development, working with a U.S. Government agency, Congress, an international organization, or non-governmental organization.• Excellent professional writing and editing skills• Familiarity with photo editing via Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom• Proficiency with event photography & video (both phone & DSLR) • Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere and Canva• Not a requirement, but a major plus - Any level of proficiency with graphic design in Google Apps (eg. Slides, Docs), Microsoft Apps (eg. Powerpoint, Word), Adobe Apps (eg. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and/or Canva • Experience developing and posting website content and using Drupal 9• Experience drafting and posting social media content.• Ability to provide internal and external event support: logistics, back-end video hosting (Google, Teams, Zoom)• Ability to work effectively both individually and as a member of a team.• Willingness to work on all aspects of team priorities.• Must be able to plan, organize, and use time effectively.• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work within tight deadlines.• Ability to design and produce high-quality communications products and documents.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:• Knowledge of foreign affairs, international development, geopolitical issues• Knowledge and familiarity with USAID or development programs• Collaborative approach to teamwork
