The Communications Manager partners closely with the Regional President and regional Comms leader as well as our wider Communications function, to shape and deliver strategic, enterprise‑aligned communications that build awareness, deepen understanding, and inspire action across all internal and external stakeholders. 

This is an individual contributor role, focused on hands-on execution and strategic impact for Korea and Japan, with a particular focus on telling our energy and automation technology stories to audiences in the region. 

The successful candidate will be experienced at operating both as counsel to senior executives, and tactically across the full spectrum of communications activities. Outstanding written and verbal communications skills in English and Korean are critical, along with a proven ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment, with rapidly shifting priorities and some level of ambiguity.  Japanese language skills is desired.

Deep experience in message development and localization is a must, as this position will help guide efforts to consistently develop creative, compelling, and human-focused content that connects Honeywell employees with each other, leaders, and the company’s strategic initiatives.

This person will have a deep understanding of the political, economic, and technological shifts taking place in Korea, Japan and across APAC and be skilled in mapping industry stories to these trends to provide local market relevance. 

The team:

Honeywell’s Regional Communications teams lead internal and external communications for their respective regions.  

As part of an integrated communications function, this team develops a cohesive internal communications narrative that connects internal and external messaging—leveraging company channels, employee engagement events, town halls, multimedia storytelling, and integrated change‑communications plans to inform and unite functional teams around a One Honeywell, One Region growth culture. 

In parallel, they collaborate with the Media Center of Expertise (“COE”) to extend these narratives through external communications, developing aligned messaging for functional leaders, driving meaningful industry and business media coverage around products and initiatives, and leading coordinated local, regional, and national efforts that protect and elevate Honeywell’s reputation and brand across all relevant audiences. 

 This team serves as a trusted advisor for senior executives in mission-critical moments, assessing and securing the right opportunities for them to amplify our growth story. This senior position will fit someone who is a purpose-driven storyteller with strong judgment and a calm demeanor to manage multiple concurrent high-profile executive positioning activities. They will work closely with senior leaders to achieve differentiated positioning across all external channels – from executive social, to internal, to owned, to earned.  

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Identify, develop and implement a holistic internal and external communications strategy and communications plan for Honeywell in Korea and Japan aligned to business objectives and priorities, as it evolves to become one of the world’s leading pure play automation companies.  
  • Develop regional media programs that are strongly linked to business strategy, regional industry trends, and performance requirements. 
  • Develop and execute Executive Positioning strategies for the Regional President and country executives to drive top-tier media coverage, employee engagement and visibility to further the company’s reputation. 
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key reporters/media and manage media inquiries and interview requests. 
  • Partner on message development and provide media training and coaching as appropriate for key executive spokespeople.  
  • Develop and deploy new, innovative tactics in support of delivering compelling messaging to employees across the business. 
  • Support major initiatives, organization transitions, leadership changes, and other transformation steps through innovative and effective communication plans that address the needs of varied audiences and stakeholders. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate budget and vendor relationships, event management and project teams as appropriate.  
  • Work with appropriate businesses, functions, and government relations on crisis and issues management. 
  • Oversee and develop content for press releases, bylined articles, key messages, media statements, Q&A documents, and briefings.  
  • Advocate for the Honeywell brand and live as a brand ambassador.  
  • Champion AI within the Communications space.  
  • Ability to travel 10 - 15% of the time. 

Success Factors:  

  • Proven track record of results, change communications and positioning executive leaders to drive differentiated company coverage. 
  • Develop relationships with reporters/media, pitch news stories/ideas, manage journalist inquiries and serve as a media spokesperson. 
  • Strong (AP style) writing skills, with the ability to develop clear, concise messages that align closely with corporate messaging. 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to present effectively to senior management. 
  • The ability to think strategically, provide communications counsel, and lead in developing plans to drive results. 
  • Ability to identify issues proactively and execute actions to eliminate or minimize their potential impact. 
  • Self-starter with ability to thrive in a matrix organizational structure where priorities can shift quickly. 
  • Excellent project management and the ability to simultaneously prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.  
  • Intimate understanding of social media, especially LinkedIn, and an advanced understanding of how best to leverage channels such as Viva Engage to promote employee engagement. 
  • Ability to provide communications guidance and work effectively across businesses and corporate functions. 
  • Strong business acumen and partnering, consulting and influencing skills with the ability to build and navigate relationships at all levels of the organization, particularly at the executive level. 
  • Advanced understanding of business processes and vernacular. 
  • Advanced understanding of the complex legislative, regulatory, and political environment related to their region.  
  • Prior experience working in a large, complex international company with diverse products portfolio desired.

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications.
  • 10-12 years of experience in a Communications role.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and matrix environment.
