Public awareness remains the single biggest bottleneck in AI safety. Fortunately, the public's interest in AI safety is growing extremely quickly. Videos, articles, and social posts about AI safety are now reaching millions, and public curiosity is compounding by the week. CAIS is building a public engagement team to harness this surge in public interest and maximize the amount of attention that AI safety receives.
We're hiring a Communications Lead to bridge research and public communication. You turn complex technical work into public communications materials (e.g., explainers, FAQs, briefs). You ensure claims are accurate and accessible, and you maintain high editorial standards across outputs. You report to the Head of Public Engagement.
What You'll Do
- Translate research into explainers, FAQs, briefs
- Partner with researchers and spokespeople
- Maintain voice, tone, and style guide
- Run fact-check and final quality control processes
- Support media prep and briefing materials
What We're Looking For
- A background in scientific/technical communication
- Strong line-editing and accuracy discipline
- Ability to understand complex research quickly
- Experience working closely with subject-matter experts
