RATE OF PAY: $13.48-$15.17 PER HOUR
This is a PT Summer Internship.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Communications Intern works within Park City government’s Communications team, supporting the City's efforts to keep residents, businesses, and visitors informed and engaged. This position is an excellent opportunity for a high school or college student interested in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or government to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of projects. The intern will assist with various writing, content, and outreach tasks, and the specific assignments will vary based on the City's needs throughout the summer.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Writing and Content Support:
- Help draft, edit, and proofread written materials such as newsletters, social media posts, and web content.
- Assist in gathering information and conducting basic research for communications projects.
- Digital and Social Media:
- Support the creation and scheduling of content for the City's social media channels and website.
- Project and Event Support:
- Assist with planning, promoting, and staffing community events and public meetings.
- Help track project progress and organize materials and files.
- Administrative Support:
- Prepare documents, presentations, and other materials as requested.
- Provide general support to the Communications team on day-to-day tasks.
- Collaboration:
- Work with team members and other City departments to support coordinated communications efforts.
- Take on additional projects and tasks as assigned throughout the internship.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Educational Background:
- Currently enrolled in high school or college, with an interest in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or a related area.
- Must be 16 years of age or older
WORK CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed primarily in an office setting.
- May require small amounts of travel to and from meetings, trainings, and conferences.
- Requires occasional work on evenings, weekends and/or holidays primarily for the purpose of attending public meetings, managing special events, responding to media requests, and crises and emergency communications; on-call requirement in the event of an incident or emergency when needed.
