As part of our growth journey to become a best-in-class, pure-play automation technology company, we are hiring a Communications Director, based at one of our key sites in Frankfurt or Ratingen, Germany. 

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of strategic communication initiatives that enhance our brand reputation and effectively convey our business objectives to internal and external audiences within the Building Automation business. You will report directly to our Senior. Director, Communications, Building Automation. 

The Communications Director will partner closely with the global BA communications team, BA leadership in Europe and our wider Communications function to shape and deliver strategic, enterprise‑aligned communications that build awareness, deepen understanding and inspire action across all internal and external stakeholders.  

This role is focused on both hands-on execution and strategic impact for Europe, with a particular focus on telling our building automation technology stories to internal and external audiences across Europe. 

The successful candidate will be experienced at and comfortable operating both as counsel to senior executives, and tactically across the full spectrum of communications activities. Exceptional written and verbal English and German communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. 

Deep experience in message development and localization is a must, as this position will help guide efforts to consistently develop creative, compelling and human-focused content that connects Honeywell employees with each other, leaders and the company’s strategic initiatives. 

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the political, economic and technological shifts taking place across Europe, and be skilled in identifying stories that resonate with internal and external stakeholders.  


 Responsibilities:  

  • Create and lead a unified internal and external communications strategy for Honeywell Building Automation in Europe, making sure all communications support the business’s goals and priorities, and align within the broader European communications plan, as the company continues its shift toward becoming a leading pure-play automation company. 

  • Drive BA Europe’s internal communications strategy, including direct support to the BA Europe President and key communications activities aligned to Honeywell’s and BA’s strategic priorities. 

  • Lead communications support for all BA leadership team members based in Europe. 

  • Develop and deploy new, innovative tactics in support of delivering compelling messaging to employees across the business.  

  • Develop regional media programs that are strongly linked to business strategy, regional industry trends and performance requirements.  

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key reporters/media and manage media inquiries and interview requests in the region.  

  • Partner on message development and provide media training and coaching as appropriate for key executive spokespeople.   

  • Support major initiatives, organization transitions, leadership changes, and other transformation steps across Building Automation in Europe through innovative and effective communication plans that address the needs of varied audiences and stakeholders.  

  • Work with appropriate businesses, functions, and government relations on crisis and issues management.  

  • Oversee and develop content for press releases, bylined articles, key messages, media statements, Q&A documents, and briefings aligned to Building Automation.  

  • Advocate for the Honeywell brand and live as a brand ambassador.   

  • Champion AI within the Communications space.   

  • Ability to travel 10 - 15% of the time. 


You Must Have 

  • The ability to think strategically, provide communications counsel, and lead in developing plans to drive results.  

  • Excellent project management and the ability to simultaneously prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.   

  • Strong business acumen and partnering, consulting and influencing skills with the ability to build and navigate relationships at all levels of the organization, particularly at the executive level.  

  • Self-starter with ability to thrive in a matrix organizational structure where priorities can shift quickly.  

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to present effectively to senior management.  

  • Strong (AP style) writing skills, with the ability to develop clear, concise messages that align closely with corporate messaging.  

  • Ability to identify issues proactively and execute actions to eliminate or minimize their potential impact. 

  • Develop relationships with reporters/media, pitch news stories/ideas, manage journalist inquiries and serve as a media spokesperson.  

  • Intimate understanding of social media, especially LinkedIn, and an advanced understanding of how best to leverage channels such as Viva Engage to promote employee engagement.  

  • 12-15 years of B2B communications experience is preferred, including senior level work in large, complex international companies.
