Program Description:

The Communications Team works to increase Graham's name recognition and promote the organization as a leading subject matter expert in providing helpful help™ to children, families, and communities. This role will collaborate closely with the Development and Advocacy teams, using communications strategies to support the teams’ goal of engaging and expanding our donor and supporter audiences. Creative energy, relationship building, superior communications, and deep collaboration are characteristics of the team and how it effects change internally and externally as key connection agents for Graham.


Principal Objective/Role Overview:

The Communications Associate will advance the visibility of the organization, our mission, initiatives, and spokespeople by supporting the implementation of communications initiatives for external and internal audiences. This role supports the Director of Communications in creating and publishing compelling content across various channels, including email, social media, website, and print and digital publications.

Job Responsibilities:

The Communications Associate will support in building out Graham’s sustainable content ecosystem by designing and executing creative digital communications campaigns, including paid ads, email, and social media. They will write and design print and digital collateral in support of our Development team as well as our direct practice service teams. This role will analyze performance metrics to identify trends and hone our digital strategy across platforms. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Multi-Channel Strategy: Support the development and execution of awareness-raising campaigns across email, paid digital ads, social media, and website.
  • Graphic Design and Content Writing: Draft and edit visual and written content for print materials, social media, and website. Coordinate with internal teams to maintain consistency with Graham’s brand and voice.
  • Digital Engagement: Leverage social media platforms to attract and engage supporters.
  • Data Analysis: Use Google Analytics to track online performance and report on engagement rates and ROI. 
  • Internal Communications: Support Graham’s internal/staff communications. Maintain SharePoint staff website and produce monthly staff newsletters.
  • Photography and Videography: Capture high-quality photography and video at school, after-school, evening, and weekend events, while maintaining a well-organized digital media library for use in communications and fundraising efforts.

 

Key Competencies:

  • Social media management: Pitching, creating, and publishing creative visual and written content for social media and managing the organization’s social media calendar.
  • Multi-channel marketing: Ability to timeline, craft, and develop analytics for cohesive messages across digital and traditional channels.
  • Collaboration: Ability to collaborate and foster collaboration.
  • Flexibility: Provide flexible support on development, communications, and advocacy projects as they arise.
Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, discipline non-specific
  • Previous internship experience a plus
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Graphic design skills: Proficiency in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Basic video editing experience
  • Strong understanding of content creation and best practices for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok)
  • Experience using WordPress or another CMS
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic understanding or willingness to learn about SEO and Google Analytics
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines
  • Must be willing to travel throughout NYC as needed

Salary & Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $55,000 per year
  • Benefits Eligibility: This role is eligible to participate in our Performance Based Merit Award program at the end of each fiscal year, and eligible for benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, career coaching via Bravely, and more!
