Role Overview:
We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Communications & Public Relations candidate to join our team. This role is perfect for a student looking to gain hands-on experience in external/internal written communications, project management, event marketing and more! In this role there will be strong cross-functional collaboration, project management, writing, and research components to help drive Lilly Canadas mission, to make life better for people around the world.
In this role, the 12-month Communications & PR intern will support various aspects including: corporate, brand, and internal communications activities. The candidate will demonstrate agility and strong project and time management skills.
They will support the communications function across a broad range of internal and external initiatives, contributing to everything from employee communications and events to media relations, content development, and special projects. This role offers hands-on exposure to the full spectrum of public relations- helping coordinate campaigns, manage issues, support stakeholder engagement, and ensure consistent, strategic storytelling across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation: Draft engaging copy for newsletters, and other communications activities.
Social Media Management: Assist in scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and creating visual content (graphics/short-form video) for platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn.
Media Relations: Research and maintain media lists; help draft pitches for local or industry-specific outlets.
Internal Communications: Support the team with internal announcements, slide decks, or company-wide updates.
Project Management: Support the planning and execution of communications projects and events by coordinating timelines, tracking deliverables, and liaising with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective delivery of initiatives.
Educational Background
Current Student: Pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.
Must be a student returning to full time studies Fall 2027 or required to complete a co-op/internship in order to fulfill a program requirement.
Essential Technical Skills
Writing & Editing: The ability to write clean, concise copy for different formats (blogs, social media, press releases). Proficiency in CP Style is a major plus for PR-heavy roles.
Social Media Literacy: Professional-level familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter). This includes understanding trends, hashtags, and basic platform analytics.
Design Tools: Experience with Canva is usually a baseline requirement. Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, or Premiere Pro) is a high-value "bonus" qualification.
Professional "Soft" Skills
Detail-Oriented: A "sharp eye" for typos and formatting errors is critical, as they will often be the final set of eyes on public-facing content.
Research Abilities: The skill to quickly find information on industry trends, competitors, or potential media contacts.
Adaptability: The communications field moves fast. You need someone who can pivot from writing a formal report to filming a fun "behind-the-scenes" Reel.
Communication: Strong verbal skills for participating in brainstorms and potentially interacting with vendors or media.
Additional Information:
- Preferred start date: September 2026.
- This role is determined to be a flexible worker, where on-site presence in the Toronto office is expected to be 10 days per month minimum, as determined by your manager and business needs.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$22 - $25/hourFull-time equivalent employees may also be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
