Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to contribute to the organization's success by performing assigned duties and responsibilities efficiently and effectively. The Commercial Sales Engineer position involves collaborating with team members, adhering to company policies, and striving to achieve both individual and collective goals. Position Overview:
The Commercial Sales Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the sales team by designing and presenting technical solutions tailored to the needs of commercial clients. This role bridges the gap between customer requirements and Clearnetworx’s fiber infrastructure capabilities, ensuring successful deployments and long-term customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Pre-Sales Technical Support

  • Collaborate with Commercial Account Executives to understand customer needs, business objectives, and technical requirements.
  • Conduct in-depth discovery sessions with potential clients to assess current infrastructure, pain points, and future growth plans.
  • Translate customer requirements into tailored fiber internet solutions, including Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), dark fiber, and symmetrical bandwidth offerings.

2. Solution Design & Proposal Development

  • Design scalable and cost-effective network solutions using Clearnetworx’s fiber infrastructure.
  • Create technical documentation including network diagrams, scopes of work, and service specifications.
  • Assist in the development of proposals, quotes, and RFP/RFI responses with accurate technical input.
  • Ensure proposed solutions are feasible, compliant with engineering standards, and aligned with deployment timelines.

3. Site Surveys & Feasibility Assessments

  • Coordinate and conduct site visits to evaluate physical infrastructure, access points, and installation requirements.
  • Work with network planning and construction teams to determine build feasibility, route options, and cost estimates.
  • Identify potential challenges (e.g., permitting, right-of-way, building access) and propose mitigation strategies.

4. Client Engagement & Presentations

  • Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to commercial clients, property managers, and developers.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by clearly articulating the value of fiber solutions and how they meet business needs.
  • Support sales meetings with technical expertise and help address client objections or concerns.

5. Internal Collaboration & Project Handoff

  • Liaise with engineering, operations, and customer success teams to ensure smooth handoff from sales to implementation.
  • Provide technical guidance during onboarding and installation phases to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in internal planning meetings to align sales efforts with network expansion and strategic initiatives.

6. Continuous Learning & Market Awareness

  • Stay up to date on fiber technologies, industry trends, competitive offerings, and regulatory changes.
  • Provide feedback to product and engineering teams based on customer insights and market demands.
  • Contribute to the development of sales enablement materials and training resources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in a Sales Engineering or Solutions Architect role, preferably in telecom or fiber internet.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optics, Ethernet, IP networking, and last-mile connectivity.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with CRM and proposal tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Visio, Lucid).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with GIS mapping tools and network design platforms.
  • Experience working with commercial real estate developers, property managers, or business parks.
  • Technical certifications such as MEF-CECP, CCNA, or CompTIA Network+.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
