Commercial Rotation Program Overview

The Commercial Rotation Development Program provides the opportunity for high potential future leaders to gain exposure to functions that are critical to the Commercial Organization. This is accomplished over an approximate two-year period through a mix of field sales and home office rotational assignments potentially in the following areas: Marketing, Commercial Training & Development, Market Analysis and Strategy, Managed Care and Customer Operations, and other business units. The rotation assignments are tailored to provide new hires with challenging and meaningful assignments, training in both technical and managerial skills and coaching from the Commercial Leadership team. The Commercial Rotation Development Program gives recent graduates the opportunity to gain a broad perspective on the core Commercial functions that are critical to the commercialization of Genentech products.

Program Features

Program Structure, Focus, and Timing

  • Over the course of 3.5 years, three (3) rotational opportunities with key functions across CMG (e.g., Access Teams, Customer Experience, Access Solutions, Marketing, Strategic Analytics & Insights, etc.)

    • One (1) Field/Customer Facing Rotation: Typically a longer rotation of ~18 months. Geographical flexibility within the US may be required as the location will depend on business need.

    • Two (2) Home Office Rotations: Each are typically a rotation of ~12 months, team identified based on business need and interest/development area; common areas of interest are Marketing, Access, Strategic Analytics, and Health Equity. Home Office Rotations are based in South San Francisco, CA.

  • At the end of this program, associates will have the opportunity to pursue a full time position within the company.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree, MBA/Masters, PhD, PharmD, JD or other relevant degree, completed within the last three years by the start of employment

  • 3 years of prior work experience in one or more of the following areas: healthcare, life sciences, biotech/medtech, brand management, consulting, finance, engineering, management sciences, and data science

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in and aspiration to be a commercial leader in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry

  • Highly motivated and self-driven with demonstrated leadership capabilities with a proven track record of driving and delivering results

  • Excellent communication skills in a matrixed organization to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, openness to diverse perspectives, and strong analytical skills

  • Valid US Drivers License prior to start date - field rotation will include driving to customer sites and utilizing a company car.

  • Business travel, by air or car, may be required for regular internal and external business meetings

  • Geographic flexibility - while field locations often take place in the associate's current location, sometimes relocation is required depending on the business need. Re-location may also be required to work at the SSF campus and in alignment to Genentech campus presence requirements

  • Field rotations will require significant travel as the rotation requires regularly visiting customer sites.

  • Home Office rotations are based in South San Francisco and work a hybrid schedule, in office 3 days per week.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $128,000 - $237,800.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  This position is eligible to earn incentive compensation that is calculated and paid in accordance with the applicable Incentive Compensation Plan for the role. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
