The primary duty of the Commercial Relationship Manager is to build relationships with commercial customers of the Bank for the purpose of providing advice and recommendations on the customer’s operational financial management, including cash flow, investments, available banking products, meeting lending needs, examining, evaluating and approving lines of credit and providing overall financial advice to the commercial customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 

  • Through relationship management and within the framework of the business development call program, the employee will collect and analyze the financial needs of the commercial customer and will determine, based on an analysis of the commercial customers financial needs, the best financial products that best meet the customer’s needs and financial circumstances. The employee will advise the commercial customer regarding the advantages and disadvantages of different financial products and will service the commercial customers overall financial needs.
  • Stay current, maintain superior knowledge and comply with all Farmers & Merchants products and services, policies and procedures.
  • May also service individual customers, performing a similar function but meeting individual and not business needs. Servicing the individual customer is incident to the employee’s primary duty of servicing commercial customers.
  • Through relationship management and in making recommendations to the commercial or individual customer, the employee will recommend certain loan products to best meet the needs of the customer, and in doing so, will facilitate a variety of loan programs for the customer’s needs, including secured and unsecured loans, to include real estate, commercial, small business, lines of credit, home equity, credit card and consumer loans.  
  • Makes independent decisions and recommendations, after evaluating the financial status, credit and property evaluation, regarding the appropriate loan products and whether to approve the loan on behalf of the Bank. In addition, the employee will use discretion and independent judgment to make decisions on loans and terms within established lending limits.  

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

May be required to assist with loan review and manual preparation. 

Display at all times a positive cooperative spirit, professionalism and a responsible attitude to staff and customers. “Lead by example while being a team player.”

Maintain a neat and orderly work area and ensure that all negotiable and confidential information is properly secured.

Protect the Bank and customer information; knowledge of customers and their relationship with the Bank must be kept in absolute confidence.

Strive at all times to provide superior customer service. Resolve concerns in an efficient and courteous manner. “Own the problem.” 

Represent Farmers & Merchants Bank professionally and courteously while in contact with the public either in person or by telephone. Serves as a Bank representative in business, civic and community organizations to promote bank services.

Continue training/knowledge thru seminars and classes as available.

Other responsibilities as determined by management.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or other related field. Four or more years of lending and bank management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to analyze and organize financial information and perform complex financial calculations.

Detailed knowledge of lending regulations, lien laws, collection/bankruptcy regulations and loan documentation. 

Expert knowledge of real estate field, including appraisals, deeds and lien recording.

Proficient computer skills. 

Present a professional image in dealing with customers and employees.

Willingness to travel to customer prospect facilities for business development or to conduct inspections.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to multitask and work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a current driver's license. Occasional travel required.

Registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry as a mortgage loan originator in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) or becomes registered. 

MENTAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

May be required to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.

May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time while performing job duties.

Give and ensures detailed instructions are followed.

Must possess analytical skills and be able to concentrate for extended periods of time.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field
  • Four or more years of lending and bank management experience
  • Registered as a mortgage loan originator
  • Ability to analyze and organize financial information
  • Detailed knowledge of lending regulations and loan documentation
