About Skyscanner
Everyone loves travelling, but planning is not without its challenges ✈️. That's why we've spent 20 years building tools that turn travel-planning chaos into a breeze. Today, around 100 million travellers count on us every month to skip the whole “47 browser tabs open” phase and find flights, cars, and hotels quickly and easily 💻.
Joining Skyscanner means becoming part of a global brand that's striving to become the planet's go-to travel hack accessible for all 🌍.
Our vision? To be the world's number one travel ally. (Ambitious? 💪 Yes, but, hey, that's what got us here).
Now, we’re on the lookout for a Commercial Manager to help us bring that vision to even more travellers.
About the role
(Hybrid)
We’re searching for a Commercial Manager to join our APAC commercial team and supercharge our partnerships and advertising activities across the Japan market. With Skyscanner scaling rapidly in the region — and already a top travel meta-search leader across much of APAC — your role will be key in strengthening our position and unlocking new growth.
You’ll build and nurture high-value relationships across flights partners and advertising clients, operate as a trusted advisor, and collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery across desktop, mobile web, and app. It’s part partnerships, part product-shaping, part data-guided opportunity spotting — and all about elevating Skyscanner’s presence in Japan.
What you’ll be doing
Securing standout partnerships: Identifying, pitching and winning new opportunities with airlines, OTAs and advertising partners across Japan.
Owning the full deal cycle: Negotiating and closing commercial agreements from first conversation to final implementation.
Collaborating cross-functionally: Working closely with technical, operations, product, delivery and billing teams to ensure integrations and campaigns land smoothly.
Creating strategic account plans: Positioning Skyscanner as a trusted, long-term partner across both flights and advertising.
Growing existing partnerships: Spotting upsell opportunities, multi-market expansions and longer-term deal structures.
Driving new business: Proactively sourcing fresh revenue opportunities and delivering accurate forecasts for both partner traffic and commercial performance.
Making data work for you: Analysing partner behaviour and performance trends to optimise results and uncover new growth angles.
Monitoring success metrics: Ensuring both flights and advertising partnerships deliver impact and strong client satisfaction.
About you
A consultative seller at heart: You’ve delivered success in solution-based sales and know how to build trusted client relationships.
Industry savvy: Experience with airlines, OTAs, media agencies or adjacent sectors is a strong plus.
Digitally fluent: You understand Japan’s digital advertising ecosystem — from ad exchanges to DSPs to mobile ad flows.
Influential and insight-led: You communicate value clearly and can influence decision-makers with ease.
Analytical and commercially minded: You’re comfortable forecasting revenue, interpreting performance data and connecting insight to action.
Cross-functional collaborator: You thrive in international, tech-driven environments and enjoy working across diverse teams.
Linguistically confident: Fluent in Japanese and English (bonus points for Korean or other Asian languages).
Ambitious and resilient: Energised by building and scaling partnerships in a fast-moving environment.
