Summary Generated by Built In

MB Attorney Search has been exclusively retained by our client, a highly regarded Milwaukee litigation boutique with a sophisticated commercial and environmental litigation practice, to recruit an experienced Commercial Litigation Attorney.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished litigator who enjoys sophisticated legal work but is seeking greater autonomy, meaningful client relationships, and a more direct path to partnership.

Our client offers an established litigation practice, a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture, and a performance-driven compensation structure with significant long-term earning potential.

Responsibilities include:

  • Independently manage commercial and business litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Handle complex discovery, depositions, substantive motions, hearings, negotiations, and trial preparation.
  • Develop litigation strategies and provide practical, business-oriented advice to clients.
  • Collaborate with experienced litigators, scientific experts, and engineering professionals on technically complex matters.
  • Build and maintain meaningful client relationships while taking increasing ownership of an established practice.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 5+ years of substantive commercial, business, or civil litigation experience.
  • Strong case management, discovery, deposition, motion practice, and courtroom skills.

  • Wisconsin Bar admission or eligibility for admission.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and an interest in long-term professional growth.

Environmental litigation experience is not required. Our client welcomes accomplished commercial litigators with the intellectual curiosity and aptitude to engage with scientific and technical issues. An engineering or scientific background is a plus.

No portable book of business required.

Compensation & Partnership Opportunity

Our client offers a highly competitive, performance-based compensation model designed to reward productivity and provide substantial earning potential.

Highlights include:

  • Guaranteed base compensation plus generous production-based incentives.
  • Significant upside based on individual collections and business origination.
  • An established practice with existing client work.
  • A reasonable 1,500-hour annual billable target.
  • A realistic opportunity to transition to partnership within 1–2 years, based on performance and mutual readiness.
  • An attractive partner compensation structure offering increased autonomy and long-term financial upside.
  • A collaborative environment that values quality of work, professionalism, and client relationships.

For attorneys who enjoy sophisticated litigation but are looking beyond the traditional large-firm model, this opportunity offers something different: meaningful work, greater control over your practice, strong earning potential, and a genuine opportunity to advance.

Our client values litigation expertise, sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to build lasting client relationships.
