The Role

We’re now searching for an awesome Commercial Lead to join our Advertising & Partner Analytics Team in AMER.

The key purpose of this role is to is to grow Skyscanner’s Destination Marketing advertising revenue within the AMER region working with tourism boards and agencies to expand our portfolio of advertising partners. You will play a critical role in developing existing and forging new relationships with tourism boards at all levels (country, state, & cities) & media agencies.  The role will focus on selling Awareness & Consideration campaigns to an array of destination partners. You will have proven experience in influencing senior decision makers at government level where appropriate and other decision makers at tourism boards and agencies forging strong partnerships. Previous experience in winning government marketing contracts and extensive network in the tourism board space in AMER region is key to this role.
As a key member of the commercial team, you will also be charged with professionally representing Skyscanner at external events, which will require occasional international travel.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Shaping Skyscanner’s tourism board strategy for AMER region whilst collaborating & sharing best practices with our APAC + EMEA Commercial Leads.
  • Meeting with government officials and decision makers at tourism boards to share Skyscanner’s destination marketing solutions.
  • Meeting with senior agency contacts who hold tourism board portfolios to share Skyscanner’s Brand/Awareness concepts and to onboard new partners.
  • Establishing, growing and maintaining tourism board direct and media agency relationships.
  • Hitting & exceeding destination marketing team targets.
  • Identifying key decision makers within agencies to develop strong relationships with them.
  • Nurturing and developing tourism board accounts, whilst maintaining strong relationships, as well as proactively pursuing and securing new business.
  • Generating incremental revenues from existing agencies by selling broader advertising & multi-market solutions with long-term commitments.
  • Producing reports and recommendations concerning advertising and strategies for Senior Management.
  • Compiling and analysing sales figures, while monitoring relevant performance metrics and efficiently managing campaigns to focus on activities that grow revenue, ensuring agency satisfaction.
  • Coordinating with other functional and support areas, including campaign delivery, sales, operations, product development and billing.
  • Contributing to the development, on-going definition and refinement of market and channel specific sales strategies and setting of sales targets, implementing plans underpinning delivery of those strategies, continuing evolution of our products and commercial propositions.
  • Representing the business at external events.
  • Keeping up to date with the current market and competitors.

Required Skills/Experience:

About you

  • Tourism Boards: Being able to hit the ground running with existing mid/top tier relationships and having a wide range of contacts.
  • Proven record of signing 7 figure tourism board contracts and successfully wining government marketing tenders.
  • Excellent understanding of the tourism board marketing landscape in the AMER region, identifying needs and solutions to win in the region.
  • Bias to action. You drive results in a big way and can get things done in a highly matrixed and relationship-based organisation. You have an ability to communicate value and influence customer decision makers.
  • Naturally curious: You're inquisitive, innovative, extremely creative, and constantly looking for ways to sell Skyscanner. You’ve an appreciation of an international and technology-oriented business environment.
  • Team player: Excellent relationship management skills, tenacious and a cross-function collaborator.

  • Stakeholder management: Experience in building strong internal relationships with Product, Ad Operations, Commercial and Management Teams.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience in selling & planning Digital Brand + Awareness campaigns to tourism boards and agencies is essential.
  • Experience within the Travel Industry is required.
  • Experience in selling new + existing advertising concepts to partners.
  • An excellent understanding of the digital advertising ecosystem in the AMER region.
  • An ability to communicate value and influence customer decision makers.
  • Proven success in client management or successful consultative or solution-selling experience.
  • An appreciation of an international and technology-oriented business environment.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit that enjoys working in a people-oriented company, which sets high expectations and treats individuals with respect.
  • A passionate drive to get things done and build up a high potential business.
