About the Role
The Commercial Finance Analyst provides analytical support across pricing, margin, mix, and customer and product profitability. This role partners closely with the Commercial Finance Leader and commercial teams to deliver financial insights that support informed business decisions and profitable growth. The ideal candidate brings strong financial modeling and analytical skills, proficiency in Power BI and other data analytics tools, and the ability to translate data into clear, actionable recommendations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Commercial Analytics & Decision Support
- Provide financial analysis and decision support to the Commercial Finance Leader and commercial teams.
- Build financial models, scenarios, and business cases to evaluate commercial opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs.
- Analyze financial and commercial performance to identify key trends, drivers, and opportunities for improvement.
- Translate complex financial data into clear insights and recommendations for business stakeholders.
Pricing, Margin & Mix Analysis
- Support pricing analysis, including price realization, pricing effectiveness, and the financial impact of proposed changes.
- Analyze margin performance and product, customer, channel, and market mix to identify drivers of profitability.
- Partner with commercial stakeholders to evaluate contract economics, customer proposals, and growth opportunities.
- Develop recurring analyses and reporting that improve visibility into pricing, margin, and mix performance.
Customer & Product Profitability
- Perform customer and product profitability analyses to identify value-creation opportunities and areas requiring action.
- Maintain and improve analytical models, dashboards, and data sets used to assess commercial performance.
- Partner with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Operations to validate assumptions and improve the quality of financial insights.
- Support forecasting, planning, and performance reviews through accurate and timely commercial analysis.
Reporting, Tools & Process Improvement
- Create and maintain Power BI dashboards and other analytical tools that provide clear, actionable commercial insights.
- Improve the consistency, efficiency, and accuracy of commercial finance reporting and analysis.
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring analyses and strengthen data quality and governance.
- Document analytical methods, assumptions, and processes to support transparency and repeatability.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of experience in finance, financial planning and analysis, commercial analytics, business analytics, or a related discipline.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Power BI and other data analytics or visualization tools.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with large or complex data sets.
- Ability to connect financial results to business drivers and communicate insights to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
