The Role

The Company:

Founded in 1978, Cabot Hosiery Mills is an American manufacturer of premium socks with uncompromised comfort, durability, and fit. With a family of brands including Darn Tough Vermont, Wide Open, and Cabot & Sons, our mission is to make the world’s best socks, in Vermont, USA, and back them with our Unconditional Lifetime Guarantee. We are family owned, three generations strong, and have yet to produce our best sock.

Job Summary:

As we continue to scale one of the fastest growing apparel brands, we are seeking a Commercial Business Analyst to turn full-funnel data into clear, actionable insight that drives profitable growth across global retail and ecommerce channels. This role sits at the intersection of Marketing, Sales, Product, and Finance—building trusted reporting on campaign performance, sell-through, channel profitability, and product trends through dashboards, scorecards, KPIs; diagnosing performance drivers; and translating results into recommendations for optimization and growth. This role serves as part of a cross-functional Analytics Center of Excellence (ACOE) team, led by IT Data Analytics, sharing tools, standards, and infrastructure. The Commercial Team Analyst helps improve marketing ROI and targeting, strengthen sales execution and profitability through pricing/promo/channel insights, and sharpen product decisions using consumer and market trends—answering: “What are the results of the things we’re doing?” and “What impact did that have?”

The starting salary for this role is $100,000-$110,000 per year, based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting, Measurement & Performance Analytics: Own weekly and monthly reporting (Power BI and Excel) across revenue, volume, mix, margin, and marketing KPIs by channel, region, category, and customer. Partner with ACOE to establish consistent definitions, methodologies, and resources, supporting a single source of truth for commercial storytelling and decision-making. Leverage various statistical modeling methodologies to quantify the impact of spend, campaigns, programs, and promotions versus plan, prior year, and forecast; build frameworks for promotional effectiveness, incrementality, ROI, and demand elasticity to inform investment and optimization.
  • Sales & Commercial Analytics: Analyze POS/syndicated data (e.g., Circana) and internal sales to uncover trends, demand shifts, and retailer performance across channels and regions. Provide insights on pricing, product mix, promotions, trade terms, discounting, and commissions to optimize margin and volume. Evaluate new market opportunities and model the financial impact of commercial levers to support Finance and Sales.
  • Planning & Forecasting Enablement: Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to inform planning and forecasting cycles with insights linking marketing activity, demand trends, and revenue projections. Build models that connect marketing drivers, sales performance, and demand patterns, providing early signals on results and investment effectiveness.
  • Product & Market Insights: Collaborate with Product, Sales, Supply, Consumer Insights, and Channel teams to analyze customer, product, and competitor performance—linking sell-in, sell-through, and incrementality insights to consumer demand and marketing activity. Support product ideation and concept testing through data-driven insights, monitor emerging industry trends (e.g., sustainability, performance technologies, aesthetics), and identify new market opportunities across retail, distributor, and ecommerce channels.
  • Data Accuracy & Enablement: Champion campaign tracking, data quality, and integration across commercial systems. Partner with IT and Data Analytics to integrate new data sources into existing infrastructure, evolve enterprise reporting, and ensure consistent, cross-functional access to accurate performance metrics for decision-making.
  • Storytelling & Stakeholder Partnership: Translate complex data and insights into clear, actionable narratives that inform and influence cross-functional decisions across Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations, and Commercial Leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4–7 years of experience in commercial analytics, business analysis, FP&A, category/trade analysis, or a similar role (consumer products/apparel/manufacturing preferred).
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen (e.g., revenue, margin, COGS, pricing).
  • Experience applying advanced statistical modeling methodologies (e.g., multiple and logistic regression, cohort and cluster analysis, time-series forecasting, and causal impact or uplift modeling).
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets (modeling, pivots, complex formulas) and experience with BI tools (Power BI strongly preferred; Tableau/Looker acceptable).
  • Comfort working with large, imperfect datasets across multiple systems; demonstrated ability to clean, reconcile, document, and interpret data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to write basic queries/reports and learn new tools quickly; familiarity with SQL, DAX, and/or Python is preferred.
  • Strong communication, data visualization, and presentation skills; proven ability to translate analysis into clear recommendations.
  • Experience partnering cross‑functionally across the enterprise, influencing decisions without direct authority.
  • This position requires commitment to embrace the company’s culture through the alignment of personal behaviors with the company’s core values.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment
  • Hybrid Schedule – 3 days per week in office
  • Flexible nature to manage competing and changing priorities
  • Travel locally to all of the organization’s sites and locations
  • Occasional travel on as needed basis
