The Opportunity 

As the Commercial Affordability Principal Project Manager, you will serve as a key cross-portfolio subject matter expert driving the end-to-end operational execution of Genentech’s commercial affordability programs (including Co-pay, Bridge/Starter, Coupon other patient free goods programs). You can expect to:

  • Own day-to-day operations for multiple commercial affordability programs across diverse brand and therapeutic areas.

  • Manage external vendor performance, driving accountability for SLAs, KPIs, service quality, and complex issue escalations.

  • Lead complex, cross-functional operational initiatives, including program launches, system enhancements, and regulatory updates.

  • Perform root-cause analysis on systemic operational issues and translate insights into scalable portfolio improvements.

  • Interpret program performance data (utilization, access, speed to therapy) to deliver actionable insights and maintain audit readiness.

  • Act as a primary subject matter expert and cross-functional integrator across brand teams, finance, compliance, and Patient Experience (PX).

  • Ensure strict program compliance with regulatory guidelines, internal policies, and operational guardrails.

Who you are

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree and 5–7 years of relevant experience in vendor management, operations, or project management.

  • You possess strong project management skills with direct experience owning operational processes and driving tactical execution.

  • You demonstrate excellence in communication and presentation skills, with proven ability to effectively engage and educate high-level, diverse audiences on brand and program strategies, translating complex recommendations into clear, actionable guidance

  • You have proven experience navigating and adhering to strict regulatory processes and compliance-driven environments.

  • You demonstrate the ability to manage, motivate, and hold external vendors accountable through clear communication and escalation management.

Preferred

  • Prior experience within commercial affordability, patient access, in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector.

  • Proven track record of cross-functional leadership and influencing without authority within a complex matrixed organization.

Location

  • This role is based in South San Francisco and offers a hybrid schedule working 3 days per week on campus

  • No relocation benefits are available for this posting

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of CA is $136,100 - 252,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
