Build relationships with assigned schools, community organizations, universities, and corporate sponsors to expand JerseySTEM’s afterschool STEM programs for underserved middle school girls. Serve as the primary school contact, research stakeholders, maintain contact records, coordinate school events and visits, align outreach with volunteer and sponsorship efforts, and represent JerseySTEM in school-related decisions. This is an unpaid, pro-bono commitment of approximately six hours weekly for at least six months.

Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.

JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.

The Community Manager is assigned a specific Town/Community  where she/he will be in charge of reaching out to the schools in that area  and engaging with Middle Schools of interest  that could benefit from our afterschool STEM programs for underserved middle school Girls.

  • Work with Area Lead to implement the strategy and targets for the incoming school year
  • Research schools, identifies stakeholders (School admins)  and locate their contacts
  • Establish and maintain relationships with school liaison for the assigned school district
  • Develop a network of relationships with local community members and other non profits.
  • Collaborate with the College Engagement to ensure alignment between the Schools we reach out to and the Universities we source the volunteer college students from for that particular school
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Engagement to ensure alignment between the Schools we reach out to and the Companies we seek sponsorship from to support that school.
  • Attend virtual  team meetings weekly : (Monday 6:30pm EST)
Responsibilities
  • Be the single point of contact for JerseySTEM with the school(s) assigned 

  • Coordinate with the school administration JerseySTEM  events such as corporate sponsors visits to the school (once or twice per semester)

  • Visit the schools in your area once per semester and meet with the school officials 

  • Maintain a list of contacts including name, email and phone number of relevant school personnel

  • Represent JerseySTEM in all decisions that need to be made, in partnership with the manager and head of community engagement

  • Connect with different JerseySTEM departments on all topics affecting the schools

  • Attend virtual  team meetings weekly : (Mondyas 6:30pm EST)


Qualifications
  • Genuine concern /interest in solving the STEM education gender gap

  • Ability to establish and maintain connections with area schools

  • Resourceful, can-do attitude

  • Experience with K-12 schools (as a former educator/ school personnel/ school board member etc)

  • Comfort or willingness to  work virtually with digital tools (such as G-Suite, Slack, Jira, salesforce)

  • Experience with community outreach and relationship development preferred

  • Flexibility for occasional day time calls with the school admins during the work week is also preferred

Time Commitment 

  • 6 Hours weekly

  • 6 months minimum
