Job Description
ARHS Group – part of Accenture – is looking for a Cobol Software Engineer for one of its clients in Brussels, a key player in the Belgian Health Insurance domain.
Role & responsibilities
- Development of applications in COBOL.
- Implementing (legal) Change Requests, responding to user requests (Service Request) and solving bugs (Incidents) in production. In general, respecting the SLAs and delivery deadlines agreed with the stakeholders.
- Documenting new developments or any adaptations made in a program to support the team.
- Knowing how to interpret a functional analysis towards the technical and making the right technical choices (performance, design). Actively participating in refinements (technical/functional analyses in a team).
- Writing functional test scenarios.
- Active participation in the various Scrum ceremonies (daily standup, retrospective, planning, demo/review meeting).
Qualifications
Your profile
- Proactive, curious, daring to ask questions and not afraid to learn in a context where not everything is always documented.
- Motivation to understand the COBOL implementation of complex business processes.
- The ability to work in a team as well as a positive and constructive spirit are assets.
- Dutch-speaking or French-speaking with a passive knowledge of the other language. English is a plus but not required.
Technical skills
- Good knowledge of
- COBOL
- Visual COBOL
- A good knowledge of SQL and databases is an asset (creation of schemas, production of high-performance Query,..).
- PL/SQL
- Experience operating according to agile principles working within the framework of SCRUM.
- Knowledge of any the following would be considered an asset: Jira, Jmeter, Jenkins, OpenUtm, OpenFT, UC4, Outsystems, Java basics,..
