Cobol Senior Software Development Engineer 1

1. Use your deep technical understanding to contribute to the architectural design for the product. 
2. Contributing to defining the product roadmap and supporting end-to-end delivery of product releases & communication with different stakeholders 
3. Build software products for banking and financing institutions with R&D teams that are openly collaborative, are non-hierarchical, respect contributions and work with agility 
4. Enable, empower, and encourage teams for continuous improvement of technology and processes 
5. Challenging and supporting people and engineering practices to improve the quality of product 
6. Supporting governance of product team to ensure quality and efficiency of solutions 
7. Act as a mentor to the team and reinforce
8. Total Experience Expected: 04-06 years

Required Skills & Qualifications:

1. Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of experience in payments, banking, or fintech is preferred

Technical Knowledge:

1. Strong proficiency in Cobol programming (4-6 years), Microfocus Cobol knowledge is preferred
2. Good proficiency in Java programming language (1-2 years), including experience with Java 8 or higher preferred
3. Knowledge of software best practices
4. Experience with databases, including knowledge of SQL and JavaScript

Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualification:

1. Bachelor's or higher engineering degree in Computer Science, or related technical field, or equivalent additional professional experience.  
2. The candidate should possess very good experience as a Mainframe developer and Individual Contributor.
3. It is essential to understand that the analyst is flexible and willing to learn the domain and tech stack in addition to Oracle/Cobol to build a broad support skill set.
4. Ability to prepare technical design from functional specifications
5. Ability to perform thorough impact analysis for the functional/technical design
6. Strong development experience involved in COBOL, DB2, VSAM, etc.
7. Involved in Integration /system testing

Total Experience Expected: 04-06 years

Bachelor's or higher engineering degree in Computer Science, or related technical field, or equivalent additional professional experience.
